Hi all, I was once very active on the boards, then not so much. Had a revision. Havent been on much since then. I had Gastric Bypass on June 17th, with a second surgery on the 20th after I punctured a hole. Been doing great now, down around 75lbs. EXCEPT, I found out I am pregnant today. I am SCARED TO DEATH. For one, I am 38 years old, for two, just out 6 months. I didnt expect this at all. On top of it all I had only 1cm of an ovary left after 2 surgeries before that took most of them out. Doc said I probably cant get pregnant. Well guess again. So now its here and done. Did I mention I am scared to death? My regular doc today confirmed the pregnancy and is sending me to a "high risk" OB/GYN on Tuesday. Ironically the same doc that delievered my 16 year old son. Please, anyone, anyone, any advice? I will be sitting on this computer non stop doing research. I think Im going to go insane. Of course, the father of the child is jumping for joy. I dont believe in abortion but frankly I am scared. Please, any advice.

hi Bridget,
first of all, welcome, and know that here you are supported! I know you are scared, but many women become pregnant that soon out - some even sooner! And, they have perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies. I think it's great you're researching and taking charge of your health, but be careful - web md and google can cause more anxiety than it should! It's also great that you get to see the high risk doctor so soon! How far along do you think you are?

Hi and thanks for replying! Well my last monthly ended right around 11/30. I should have started again at the end of december. So I dunno. It is so nice to have someone out there who knows what you are going thru. Doctors can only give statistics, not lived it. I have the compound problem of age, at 38, and so soon after surgery. My appt is Tues but it seems so far away when I have so many questions. Im afraid to be happy about this.

you'll be fine!!! Add in some carbs, you need to get and stay out of ketosis. Keep an eye on your labs, and relax! From all the great info I have read from these ladies here you AND your baby are going to be perfectly fine!

CONGRATS!!

Oh Bridget - congratulations!

You are taking an active stance in your health.  You and the baby will be just fine as long as you keep taking action.

Make sure you get great prenatal care, keep up with your surgeon, talk to the ladies here, consult with our very own preggo vita lady Andrea U here.

Relax and embrace this pregnancy.

God Bless,

Leila
