Weight gain...docs not HAPPY

Okay...well...I was not the smallest chick before I got pregnant, but had maintained most of my 135lb weight loss.  Well....23 wks in and counting, I am up 23 lbs!!!!  They are NOT HAPPY.  But...but...I only gained 3lbs this month...I was so proud, and they so couldn't have cared less.  Sooo...I talked to my NUT and she says at the weight I am...that I should eat around 1500 cals, 170 carbs??, and 60g of protein???  The protein doesnt sound right to me...and the carbs sound high.  I know...I know we need at least 100carbs a day...but 170?  And 1500 cals, if I'm not eating junk food...well...umm..thats hard to do because I'm not a volume eater.

The gain came from eating a helluva lot of sugar since being pregnant.  Oh and I passed the GTT...but I have to take it again in Feb  on the 1st.

Sooo...what are your NUTS having you eat calorie wise?  I am up from 231 to 253...yikes...and they dont care if I lose the rest of the pregnancy?  Its just weird feeling like I'm on a diet while pregnant.

1500 calories seems aweful low while your pregnant. You may need more carbs b/c your pregnant. At least you can eat sugar. I have become a lot more sensitive to it since I got pregnant. Anyway, good luck. I am going to watch for responses to this one because I am curious what people's docs are telling them to eat.

Oh yes...my one great weakness became cryptonite...SUGAR!  I never did dump badly on it...nope...FAT is what I dump on...and horribly.  I once blacked out from dumping on fat.  1500 cals seems low...but at the same time, hard for me to do w/o eating badly.  I don't eat alot of food...just bad food....LOL

I'm 22 weeks and so far have gained 20lbs.  My dr is ok with it but I'm feeling un-easy about it....I never had a sweet tooth before but now that I'm pregnant I do crave sweets and Im hungry all the time!

My NUT and OB agreed between 1800-2000 calories, 100 grams carbs, 90 grams of protein and at least 64 oz of water a day.

see...i'd rather do the 100g carbs...and the 90g of protein sounds right to me.  I just started my food journaling again...so we'll see what happens.  I was good today...so here's hoping I don't gain anymore or even that I lose and baby grows just as well....

my bariatric doctor says that 100 gms is closer to what a body builder needs per day with protein.  He said to shoot for about 60 gms a day and I'd be fine, even while pg.   But you know what, you'll gain what you gain during the pg and you can't really go on a diet to lose it or not gain anymore for the rest of the pregnancy!  So they are just going to have to deal with it, lol!!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

I follow a 40/35/25 program that works well for me. Which means 40% carbs, 35% protein and 25% fat. My calorie level is 1800 cals per day so that breaks down to 180grms of carbs, 158 grms of protein and 50 grms of fat. I get alot of my protein from my shakes I drink and my carbs come mostly from the milk I use in them and from fruits and veggies. Still I have to pretty much eat non stop throughout the day to meet these goals.

i'm naughty. i haven't been counting.. counting drives me crazy. once i knew i was reaching my goal with protein i quit counting. my problem has been craving carbs.

I was about 200 pre pregnancy and i'm up to 223 this morning. I'm freaking out about this because my doc said to gain Up to 15 lbs. well i was over that at my last appt and she didn't say anything about my weight at the time. I don't always make the BEST chocies. but do try to pay attention. I still log my food. for a while i was on close to bed rest so i doubt that helped "the cause" lol. But i'm still so scared how much i will gain with this pregnancy. I don't understand how i could be less active eat more and worse food with my last pregnancy and ONLY gain 15 lbs. but eat better smaller amounts and be more active this pregnancy and gain more.. just doesn't compute. i feel like no matter what i do my body has a different idea. like maybe it's afraid i'm gonna suddenly start losing again so it's trying to make sure that i won't starve the baby if it's happens. i know this sounds silly but that's how it feels.
