pregnant, gaining weight and panicking??
I am 12 weeks pregnant and although I know I should be gaining some weight I have gained 3 lbs in the last 3 months and could not help but cry at the scale. Everything in me tells me this is good, means the baby is growing well and your healthy, but that weightloss part of me can't help but feel like I am falling backwards. Like it will get out of control from here terrified of ballooning back to 300 lbs.
Anyone else felt this way, I'd really like to know I am not alone in feeling this way.

i havent gained any weight yet. but my drs keep fussing at me because i have lost weight. i have actually been uping my intake just to pacify them...whatever i do isnt working!! but im with you, i am terrified of gaining weight and it not coming off.
i think i will just go back to the post op diet after the baby is born and no longer nursing and just work hard to get it off again, it wasnt an "easy" struggle the first time, but this is why i had surgery....looks like you and i are in the same boat. our surgery dates are pretty close, and im 12 weeks also.
good luck, if you ever need someone to vent to...feel free to message me!!

I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. When I got my BFP I was around 214 and right now I am around 197-199. I keep losing and I kind of like that. When I see the scale go up I get scared too.
This is my 8th baby so I KNOW logically that I will gain weight no matter what. Yet there is a part of me that thinks perhaps I won't be able to lose it after the baby is born.
Right now I've set a goal of trying not to gain more than 15-20 during pregnancy. I handle not going over 215 I think.
I will be nursing and I know I won't be able to fully start losing weight until I wean.
We wanted one more baby so I am happy but at the same time I was really hoping to make it to my goal weight before becoming pregnant again. I think I would have been more comfortable if I had made it to my goal weight first, and then started to gain weight.
Still as I keep losing weight I worry more about not eating enough for my baby to grow. I am still having a lot of morning sickness (nausea not vomiting) so just getting food in me is a challenge most days.
We will be able to lose the weight after our babies get here. Thankfully it'll be in the middle of Summer so we can start a daily walking regimen with our babies before winter hits, right?!

We ALL panic about the weight gain, that is normal, but don't let it rule you - it will be OK! I freaked out when I hot the point where I was up 20 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight - 4 days after having my baby I was only 4 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight. It's a very rare person who doesn't gain a little while pregnant, especially when you start to retain water!

yeah you are totally normal, it's scary losing a bunch of weight after having a major surgery and then getting pg and gaining some of it back so soon post op! I didn't gain any weight till about 12 wks and was so happy about that. It's probably because I was nauseated and throwing up from 9-12 wks, then at around 12 weeks, it went away and my appetite came back.
But then I started gaining after that, 4 lbs and was pretty ok with that. But then at my 6 month visit like 2 weeks ago, I had gained 10 lbs in a MONTH! I almost hit the ceiling!! But my doc said that it's normal to gain 7-15 lbs by this visit- so I was normal but still it was scary. So I've gained 14 lbs so far and hate seeing 158 on the scale, but I know I'm pg and this is normal and healthy. I figure I'll probably gain another 10-15 too.
But I've already been pg 2 other times (pre-op) and lost all the baby weight within a month of when I had both my babies. So I'm hoping I'm just as lucky and lose this weight within a few months of when I have the baby, especially since I can't eat as much now and malabsorb my food because of the RNY!!! I plan on nursing this baby and know that is part of why it came off so quick too, some women hold onto the weight when nursing but not me I guess.
I got lucky with my RNY too, I lost 100 lbs in the first 6 months and 130 totaly by about 10 months out (and hit my goal weight) with NO exercise. I might actually have to get off my arse after the baby (when it's ok) and exercise to get this weight off!!! LOL
Just make good food choices and try to stay active and you'll only gain what you need to during the pregnancy and be FINE! GL to you, 3 pounds in the first 3 months is wonderful. But just know that when the baby really starts getting bigger, you'll start gaining more at a faster pace, the closer you get to your due date.

I am right with you! I am 12 weeks as well and have gained 3-4 pounds! I think a lot is water retention and bloating, and I am a tad constipated so noting being able to go to the bathroom everyday had added the flux pound or two.
I started at 125 and today was 129, yesterday 128 who knows what tomorrow holds.
But you are not alone, I cry just about every time I look at the scale and when it feels like nothing in my closet fits right already!
As long as it evens out here shortly and I dont gain more than 30 pounds over all I think I will be o.k.
