Will be trying soon
It is recommended to wait 12-18 months post op to ttc. The average time to conceive for the normal healthy couple is about 8 months. Of course it could happen in 1 or take much longer...that is just the average. There are things you can do to increase your chances...like ovulation prediction tests to make sure you are timing intercourse right. I went through fertility treatments. What makes you think you might have to?? Do you have issues?? I gained 70 pounds with my first post op baby and 25 with my second. Hope this helps. I post on fridays for those of you trying...feel free to join in, and good luck. Shari
Gastric Doctor is would like for me to wait until my next visit in May before he gives us the go ahead to try. He is taken into consideration my age and the fact I don't to wait to long. Before Gastric we went in for fertility treatment and we found he has some slow swimmers so not sure if we will go that route again or try our luck on our on. I know that we will have a child, as we are determined to do so. Yes, I have places an order for ovulation prediction test so we are moving in the right direction. However, I will wait until the gastric doctor gives the OK.
Lets see, we started trying at 2 years out of surgery, so FEb 2009. I conceived in April 2009 - blighted ovum was detected in June D&C June 19th. Given the all's clear to try again in July - I conceived in August and am 2weeks 4 days pregnant with my first baby. In the first trimester I lost 15 pounds, I have since gained 9 of that back.
Good luck!
