Im sooooooo HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last few days my hunger has increased ten-fold. It seems like I NEED to eat something hourly or my stomach starts growling and I start to feel nauseated. Is this normal this early to feel like I NEED food so much more, or could it be all in my head? Ive worked so hard to loose weight (215lbs!) and although I know I will gain weight from the pregnancy, I am terrified of gaining more than I need too. With my oldest son I gained over 100lbs that never came off. Now, I attribute that to being a naive 16 year old, *****ally thought I was eating for two, but still, I get scared that I may go overboard. Has anyone experienced hunger pains this early? And does anyone have any hints on how to control it? Hints, etc. Thanks guys!!

With my first pregnancy I only got sick when I didn't eat often enough- This time around I had so much nausea all the time it didn't seem to make a difference. Now that I am at nearly 17 weeks I get that feeling too- Eat right now or throw up! I think it's rather funny. I think it is normal. It matters what you are eating, not how often. Good luck!

someone on here once said their doctor told them that when we are pregnant, we metabolise food faster than when we aren't pg, so we get hungrier sooner (even with RNY patients).
I had to eat often from about 9 weeks till 12 weeks and ate a lot of carbs and bland stuff to avoid nausea, but I wasn't very hungry. I just ate to avoid feeling sick and then throwing up. But then my nausea and throwing up stopped at 12 weeks and my appetite came back, so now I am hungry a lot! And it's scary because I eat a lot and then am hungry like an hour or two later! But I know it's because I'm pregnant and have heard other ladies say your appetite goes down after the baby comes. So I'm glad about that, I feel like a PIG! LOL
I didn't start gaining weight till about 12 weeks and that was about 3-4 pounds. My last visit at 6 months, I had gained 10 lbs in ONE month! But my doctor said that's normal at this visit, to gain at least 7-15 lbs at this stage. I am scared too about gaining the weight back, but I figure it's all baby weight and it will come off eventually. I lost all my baby weight with my other two (pre op) both within a month, so I'm not too worried. I gained 35 with my first and 16 with my second and I've gained 14 so far with this one.
Like someone said, it's what you eat and just make good food choices. But it's kind of hard when you are nauseated, you really want to eat carbs and bland foods (at least I did).

Well, I am REALLY relieved that I am not alone, and this seems to be normal, even for RNYers. :) Makes me feel alot better. I am trying to make good choices, however sometimes I do eat some things I never would have before surgery, like a hanful of cheetoos yesterday lol. ive been doing fruit smoothies with protein, salads, veggies, stuff like that. Yesterday I put some picle relish on a ham sandwich, and felt like I was in heaven. LOL.

Hi Jennifer,
Our due dates are so close! I am definitely more hungry now than I was a week ago. I'm not nauseous anymore so that could have something to do with it. I am TRYING to eat healthy things. But sometimes a girl just needs potato chips.
Congrats on your weight loss, that is fantastic!
