I just took a pregnancy test...
Please excuse the typing and spelling, i'm still shaking from the news....2 blue lines! Yup! I'm pregnant! I'm really shocked and I guess the doctor wasn't joking about the malabsorbation of the birth control. I know the first thing I'll be doing on Monday is calling the doctor's office to schedule an appointment. My question is: Are there any good websites for Post RNY Pregnancies? BTW...I had my RNY in March 09, I would appreciate no negative feedback about it being too soon to have a baby. I'm already nervous enough about it. Thanks!
first of all, congrats & welcome!
i doubt you'll get any negative feedback here in regards to it being too soon to be pregnant, of course its not ideal BUT it seems that many many ladies have been in your shoes, myself included!
i had my RNY in feb 09 and i am 10 weeks pregnant.
I completely sympathize with your nervousness, it wasn't something i planned to do so soon after surgery but it was definitely something i hoped that having surgery would allow me to one day be able to do!
Now i just embrace the gift God has given me and pray pray pray! I also have never been so diligent in taking my supplements including a prenatal as i am now!
good luck and i hope that u find all the support u need =)

I'm slowly starting to populate a section on post-op pregnancies. I'll link it below. It's a slow process, but it's a beginning.
The key, as you know, is supplements. Baby will take everything you have in reserve and leave you high and dry. The only way to keep you sane (litterally) is to make sure you take your supplements and get frequent draws. Have your surgeon do a FULL panel, then have your OB do a panel every 8 weeks of the key things.. I'd suggest b1, b9, b12, ferritin, serum iron, hct, hgb, pth, and 0,25(OH)D at the very minimum to check blood, neurlogical, and bone health of YOU.
Also, as you were told, up your carbs to a minimum of 100gs to make sure you stay out of ketosis. Ketosis is bad for fetal brain development.
If there's anything else we can help you with, let us know. I've had two babies post-op, so I've been in your shoes, and while Kaitlin wasn't as soon post-op (concieved at 13 months), I have experienced the fear and uncertainty that you're having now somewhat. Except it was a bit newer then, and I didn't have my surgeon to help as I moved about 750 miles from him.
As promised, my meager addition post-op pregnancy resources.

I had my VSG in April and got pregnant end of October. Many of us have BTDT. I think one may get soapboxish if one blatantly got WLS and then started TTC right away and boasted about it.
