Anberlin's Birth Story
Hello everyone! I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to get online to update. I only have my cell phone to post with right now. Here is our long awaited birth story!
On Christmas Matt and I decided to try having sex to get labor going. We then went to bed and I woke up w/ some pretty intense cramps about 2 hours later - sex worked a little too fast!! Lol! I started to time them and they were 5 mins apart right off the bat! The were making me poopy sick and even made me throw up. I started bleeding about a half hr after waking up and decided we should really just go in. By this time it was about 4:30am. We had about a 45 min drive to the hospital thanks to the Xmas blizzard but luckly we have 4x4 drive! The contractions really got intense on the way to the hospital. They checked me in right away and I was already at 4/5cm dilated. The decided to get me to L&D right away because I was advancing so fast. By the time I got to L&D I was measuring at about 6/7cm dilated. The were sticking me all over to get an IV in so I could get some fluids in so they could administer the epidural. It took a few tries and by this point I was in some SERIOUS pain w/ each contractions! I had no idea it would hurt that bad! Some were worse than others tho. At one point I started to throw up and one made me hyperventalate and one got me just sobbing to my husband! Still the nurses said I was handling them very well considering I was at 8 cm by the time they got the epidural in. The 1st epi didn't take one bit so 30min later they re did it and that one worked perfectly and I was in heaven! They then let us sleep for about 4 hrs to allow me to dilate to 10 and that took no time and thne the rest of the time allowed for Annie to drop down on her own so I wouldn't have to push for quite as long. By about 2pm it was time to start pushing. On my back I pushed on each contraction for about an hr then my nurse had me go on my left side and push for about a half hr. At this point my nurse was off and my new nurse came in - this nurse happened to be my cousin so that was awesome to have her help w/ it all! She had me roll on my back again now every push brought her right down! I pushed for like 10 minutes w/ my cousin and Anberlin was crowning! They got the OB in to deliver and I pushed once and her head was out and once more for her body. She came out so freaking fast it was insane! I was not expecting that! She weighed 9lbs 5oz and measuerd 20 1/2 in long. Her apgars were all 9. She was perfect from the firs breath! Matt and I just cried the entire time they were cleaning her up on my chest. We were so happy she was ok and I was ok and that the labor was so surprisingly easy! Our stay at the hospital went well and being home has been good too! She latched on perfectly w/ her 1st feeding and had been an oinker ever since! My milk came in before we left the hospital and she has put on 5 oz since we got home on Monday so she is doing really well w/ breastfeeding! She even let me sleep for 4hrs straight last night! The only thing is I do have the "baby blues" but I think that has a lot to do w/ me being bad w/ change and also because my mom isn't talking to me because I didn't allow her in the delivery room. Her loss I guess. I cant expect anything less from my mother to be honest! All in all I am very happy w/ my pregnancy, labor, birth, & of course our perfect baby girl Anberlin! I am not able to post a pic from my cell phone but if someone would like to I can email or text a pic and they could post it for me! Just pm me ur cell# or email. That would be awesome!
Well thank u everyone for your well wishes and I will do my best to be around more now that we are getting our routine down!

Congratulations Ashlie! Sounds like you and Matt have a lot to be thankful for. Happy all went well, enjoy Anberlin they grow sooo fast. Keep a check on the "baby blues" that is what they told me was wrong with me for years after the birth of my twins, but I didn't feel blue just kinda moody and not quite normal, come to find out my ovaries had stopped working and "dried" up had a complete hysterectomy almost two years ago and feel better than ever taking hormones. Hope that's not the case with you but if the "blues" don't go away have them check you out.
Take care and congrats,
Cindy
