Loser on board
Hi All,
Happy New Year to all the mommies and mommies to be. I have skimmed the board once and again but never posted anything because I was not prego yet or felt like I didn't belong. Well now I am on board. The reason for the title on my post is because I was always told in the past that I was too heavy to have babies and that I would have to loose weight. Well guess what I did just that I lost almost 2 people worth and did all my homework.
I am happy to report my darling husband and I are expecting our first baby the end of June / first of July. I am currently 13 weeks and everything is going great.
I am a lapband patient that is 1 1/2 year post op. I have lost a total of 209 lbs since my weight loss journey began in January 2005. Since my surgery in 2008 I have lost 100 lbs.
I thought it would be important to post to find out as much information as I can to make the best decisions. So if you are prego or have been prego and are a lap band or VSG Sleeve patient I would love to hear about your experience.
RNY mommies feel free to post too.
Good Luck to all and Happy New Year!!!

FYI --
I've started compiling some info on post-op pregnancies (crap, I misspelled "pregnancies" -- it's time for Andrea to go to bed) over here ---> Click me. Really, you know you wanna.
It's far from complete, and I add to it all the time, but perhaps it will give you some info that you did not already have?
Congrats, and welcome.

Broom,
Congrats on your pregnancy! You've done great with the weight loss. I remember "talking" to you before your surgery. This is my second band baby. I've had healthy pregnancies both time. I easily lost what weight I gained with Hannah and I don't expect it to be different this time.
I didn't get my band unfilled with Hannah and I don't plan on getting it unfilled this time either (obviously I will if I need to though).
Have are you feeling? Any morning sickness?
Amy

Hi Amy,
Thanks for posting and for the kind words. I am feeling great. I have had no morning sickness at all (knock on wood) and it does not even feel like I am prego except for constipation. I keep having to tell myself I am prego. I met with all my doctors including my surgeon and OBGYN before my husband and I started trying to make sure everyone would be on board with my intented plans. My plan is to keep the fluid in my band to moderate weight gain since I read it here that some bandsters were able to do this with their surgeon's approval and as long as the baby was progressing okay. My OBGYN wants me to gain 30lbs and to be honest it kind of freaks me out. May I ask how much weight were you told to gain during pregnancy? What was the amount you actually gained during your pregnancy and how soon did you loose it? Also why did you get unfilled with your first baby? Lastly, how much fluid is in your band now? I have a 10 cc band and have 3.25 cc's in.
Nice Chatting,
Broom

Congratulations! I am 15 weeks and have the lap band too. I had lost 120 lbs and then found out I was pregnant. I still have 80 lbs to my goal. I have a daughter that I had before surgery so this is my first pregnancy after the band. As of this morning I've gained 6 lbs so far. I am a little afraid of where that's going, but plan on getting a major fill after I have the baby .
Thanks for the kind words. Congratulations to you as well. As for the 6 lbs chalk it up to fluid, placenta and a little bit of baby. Did you get unfilled for your pregnancy? I am 13 weeks and up 4 lbs so don't worry. How much weight does your doctor want you to gain during pregnancy? Mine says 30lbs which kind of freaks me out. Do you know what you are having yet?
Thanks for Chatting,

I didn't get unfilled, but I needed a fill when I found out I was pregnant. Since I'm still big, they want me to gain 15 lbs. Before surgery, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I gained 50 lbs being pregnant, I sure don't want to do that again. At least the weight gain is for a good cause . I have my big ultrasound on Tuesday so I'm hoping the baby will cooperate and we'll find out what we're having!
