Questions for people who have gone to a RE
Thanks Ladies!
P.S.
Hope you all have a wonderful New Year!
Amy
Our first appointment included the Dr. visit and a routine ultrasound. Total cost was about $300.
Not including medication, but I'm going to estimate that had we paid for all of the RE appointments it would have been an additional $3000 including the appointments, ultrasounds, and blood work.

Hey Amy,
Looks like you got some good answers. My insurance did not cover fertility either but when seeing the Re initially I was referred due to my cycle being abnormal, possible PCOS, etc so tests were covered up to the point of diagnosis but once that went through and further tests were to help with TTC etc they were not. Meds varied depending on what it was....typically Clomid ran about $65 a cycle with no insurance coverage and when I did Femara it was only a $10 because that was covered because it is a breast cancer medication essential. Same thing with Metformin/Glucophage because it is a diabestes med. HCG shots were about $45..that was pharmacy fee, doctor fee separate. I think u/s to check follicles etc were btwn $175-200 a piece. Not sure on the doctors visit fees...but in range of $100+ but sometimes there are discounts and such. At one point my insurance paid a bunch of stuff and then ended up charging it back but that was a whole other issue and by then I was preggo so did not care. Hope that helps. Good Luck!
You can go to www.femara.com and print of a certificate for free 30 day supply of Femara. Your doctor has to fill it out as a perscription. Print and take with to your appointment if you're interested.
You can also go to freedomfertility.com to get discounts on Ovidrel and other fertility meds. I paid $85 at Walgreens only to find out that it is $45 online! My new RE told me about it! You need a special perscription that can be faxed in. Check out the website before going to the RE if you're interested.
HTH!
Have them check your thyroid level also. My sister and sister-in-law had problems with miscarriages in early pregnancy and both had thyroid issues. Once those were resolved, they had healthy babies.
