First official appt with doctor and questions....
I am 13 weeks now and have seen the doctor once but was having concerns regarding viability of the pregnancy and did not bring up the subject of being post op. So far I have only been taking my prenatal vitamins along with my calcium.
I am wondering basically what should I notify my doctor of to make sure I will get appropriate care. I have read that the vitamins are a biggie so I intended to tell him that, but didn't know if I should list specific vitamins or not to sound dumb but if there is a full work up that they could do. Also once I have had the vitamins looked at it is important to have this repeated monthly?
Is there any other things that we may be prone to that I should tell him about?
This OB is new to me and although I feel confident in him I doubt he has much if any experience with post op RNYers. I am not the type of patient to not advocate for myself though so I hope he doesn't mind all that I bring up.
I hope that my questions make sense. Any info is much appreciated.

You should be taking folic acid too - in addition to the prenatals and calcium.
My OB isn't terribly familiar with RNYers they have all been very open to the concerns I have brought up because of it. My surgeon has also been key - he provided a list of blood tests that he wanted drawn and I was told every 8 weeks was OK. The first set looked good and I am slightly putting off the second set until after the first because I have to go for my labs for my 3 year follow up then anyway.
My surgeon also told me that we are essentially "normal" when it comes to pregnancy no reason that surgery itself makes us high risk OR immediately means we need a c-section. OBs do tend to be more cautious with us though because of the unknown.
Oh and they should run the full panel of vitamins and minerals - I have at least 20 different tests my surgeon wants done.
Hope that helps. Here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Congrats on your pregnancy, my docs were not up to speed with my surgery either and honestly I didn't do anything different from someone had not had surgery as I have never had any issues. Liz gave a great response. Maybe you can talk to your surgeon and get a list of what they think you should be on and be checked for and discuss it with your OB.
Best of luck!
