Back issues after giving birth

It's been a little over two weeks since I gave birth and my husband is forcing me to go to the Dr. next week. (I would go sooner, but they don't have any appointments)

I don't know if I slipped a disc or what, but my lower back is killing me.   When I sit, my tailbone area (not so much my butt, but just a little higher up) goes completely numb.   I don't think I did anything when pushing, but who knows.

I'm trying to be supermom, but I don't want to injure myself even more.  I think  my parents (more like my mom) fed the twins straight sugar while I was on lift restriction because I think they gained a metric ton.  LOL  So lifting them is a little rough right now, but I have to do it because I'm the only one here.   It scares me because I have osteoporosis.   I have visions of me having a broken back.   Nothing is touching the pain.

Anyone else eff up their back from giving birth?

P.S.  On a side note, I am using Dr. Browns bottles with Maryn (was using Avent with the twins) and I love them.   So I give them a rave and two thumbs up.

I had alot of pain but I don't think it was nearly like you are describing. Mine was more of a constant ache that felt better with some meds.

I hope you didn't do anything, and good luck at appt. Hopefully nothing is broken and it's just pulled or sore.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I had the same thing after my first pregnancy- My legs would fall asleep too. It ended up being that my spine was out of alignment- I am now an avid chiropractic patient, as the Dr would only give me muscle relaxers and strong pain pills without addressing the underlying cause. It's just a thought.

I had this with Nylah and I could barely walk and couldn't carry the car seat. They gave me diclofenac sodium and flexeril. The pain went away in a few days, I stopped the medicine and it came back. I started taking it again for 2 weeks and after I stopped it didn't come back. I thought it wasn't going to go away and cried almost everyday just wishing I could be normal. I hope this helps. Good Luck at the doc!

Hope you feel better! I have back issues normally and usually ice or heat take the edge off.

Good luck with being Super Mom - I am sure that you are doing great!

Did you have an epidural?  I had this with my first child and my doctors thought the epidural hit a nerve. It did go away eventually.
Good Luck,
Emily

I had nothing.  No time for drugs.

Well you answered part of my question...I did not think you had an epidural but was not 100%
That rules out the epidual back issue which is what I experienced. I know they sometimes have you get in kooky positions when giving birth and the stirrups do not help so I wonder if like you said a disc slipped, something is out of alignment, or somehow a nerve got pinched? No clue but hope you get relief soon. Other than meds, has anything like bengay, icy hot, a warm compress or hot pad helped maybe?

Have not tried Bengay or the ice/hot therapies.    I have tried Darvocet, Motrin, and Tylenol.   So far nothing works.   I am going to find my heating pad and try it.   This is crazy pain.

I know 2 people who fractured their tailbones giving birth. Is it any better when you sit on a donut?
