Hello everyone, my name is Sabrina and I am 2 years post op and we are fixing to start trying to get pregnant for our first child. I have noticed lots of multiple births as reading posts today. Is this common after weight loss surgery?! Also any helpful hints about vitamins. Do we need to take a prenatal or just an extra bariatric daily vitamin??  Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!  Sabrina

Welcome Sabrina. Many people have multiple births when they have meds and treatments to assist fertility. I'm not so sure its due to the surgery, but we'll let some of our more seasoned folks answer for sure. About the vitamins. I was told to take a prenatal vitamin plus my normal supplements and was added iron. I hope things work out for you.

I'm not sure about the multiple births question  but as far as vitamins....I called my ob-gyn dr and told her that I'm going to start TTC and she prescribed me pre-natals....before that I was taking my regular multi-vitamins plus extra folic acid.  But you'll see that everyone on here does it a little differently.

Hi sabrina! Good Luck!!!!

i have to say that being from long island when swomeone uses fixing i a sentance it makes me giggle. :-D My grandpa is from missouri and everytime he says it i go into a fit of hysterical laughter. Guess if i moved south i"d be laughing all the time which wouldnt be a bad thing ;-)

I am 12 weeks tomorrow and only had my surgery in april. Yes it is very soon and very scary. i guess after years of infertility you just dont believe that it was your weight behind your infertility the whole time. I am nervous but excited.

I had the question about vitamins too. i showed the doc my bariatric vitamins (i take bariatric advantage) mostly he said they worry about folic acid wich is in the b12 and iorn pills in about the same dose as a prenatal vitamin.

when i was trying to conceive my son (i had fertility treatments) as soon as i started trying they prescribed me prenatal vitamins. so i would say to make an appointment, bring what you take now, get a check up, and ask alot of questions
