ot-vent
i wanted them circumcised, the hospital said they would not do it because i have a private doctor and he only delivers his patients there, so my kids were hands off!!!!!!!!!!
i called my ob/gyn's office and was told he does it in the office i said great, then i was told $200.00 each baby..............the insurance don't pay his asking price so that was a out of pocket price..........
today my babies are 5 weeks old and i went to a urologist and was told this should be done as soon as they are born in hospital, during the 1st 7 days after birth the pain is bare to none, after the 7 days they are required to give general anesthesia however not recommended until after the age of 1
i am going to call the hospital where i delivered and complain, my boys shouldnt be forced to wait until age 1, they will be in soo much pain i am sure-at age 1 they are crawling, walking, being picked up more friction to that area, i assume more painful
thanks for reading my vent
any advice would help, cause i feel bad right now knowing they will be in pain
None of them suffered any great pain, initial crying but nothing afterwards, usually just from the being held down or strapped to the board, depending on the doctor. Never had any issues, or problems with any of them or their circumcisions. If you wait til they are older you will have issues with the pain though. My father in law had a circumcision when he was 5 years old and remembers how HORRIBLE it was. Find another doctor. I have NEVER heard of any doctor recommending that you wait until they are over 1 year old and NEVER had a child circumcised at the hospital, insurance does not cover circumcision, it is considered elective surgery, and I have had to pay out of pocket for all three of them.
My son was not cir****ized at birth due to cultural reasons from my husband's side (they cir****ize kids when they're around 5-6 years). After my son was a month or two old, my husband decided I'd been right and should have gotten it done at the hospital, then when we talked to the dr about doing it at that time, they said that if they're not done immediately at the hospital at birth, that they won't do it until they're 2 years old because they don't want to anesthetize them unnecessarily when they're younger. My son was done at 2 years old and really didn't have any problems with it. They wrap it all up in cotton gauze and you have to clean it several times a day, but he didn't act like he was in terrible amounts of pain. The insurance paid for it at 2 years old. On the other hand...when/if we ever have another one...he'll be done at the hospital before he comes home.
