Blood rush sensation
Hey Ladies,
Just thought I would pop in an ask a question. This is my 9th pregnancy, so I have pretty much experienced almost everything there is... lol However, I am getting the blood rush, dizziness sensation a lot more with this pregnancy. I don't remember getting EVERYTIME I stood up, with any of my other pregnancies. I thought my BP may have been getting high.. but it has been consistently perfect each time I go to the docs (even after the office has pissed me off, it's still normal lol) I asked the doctor at my 12/13 wk check and she said it was normal... but how often is normal? I am now 18 wks and it's not going away. Anyone have this happen to them consistently?
I also have constant sinus issues... I take plain Sudafed (usually at least 1 dose, daily) The OB said it is safe and the pharmacist agreed that the duration I have been taking it and quantity is safe. Some days I feel like it affects my eyesight... like my eyeballs are going to burst. I was on antibiotics from my PC to thwart off the beginning of a sinus infection... everything is clear, and there is no sign of infection, no green mucus, not even yellow. It's all clear.
I am wondering if these two issues can be linked considering there is a connection with dizziness and the sinuses and the inner ear? Any thoughts?
Oh and my anatomy scan is scheduled for Jan 4th at 9am. We are excited. I am having it done at the maternal-fetal specialist U/S place due to my history of miscarriage and fetal demise.
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

I have the same issue with the stuffiness, I find that Benadryl at night and claritin in the morning seems to help. I also notice that the stuffier I am the dizzier I get. I now stad up, hold on to the chair for a minute then walk.
Hope you feel better!
Oh and I am 19weeks and it is still happening.

Bridget,
I think you are probably right on track as far as it being inner ear. However, you could be having positional hypotension (low BP) when changing positions. If you have a BP cuff at home...take your BP sitting, lying, and standing....when you do the standing one..you have to do it right as you are standing up...or at least immediately after you get stood up. If you can't do it at home...stop by the doc's office and ask the nurse to do it. You can also stop by your local fire department and they are awesome about doing this sort of thing for people :) If it is positional hypotension...this is a good thing as it is not life threatening it is more just a nuissance and something you need to be aware of so that you do not stand up real quick and try to walk and end up on the ground due to passing out. The same safety precautions go with the inner ear...be very careful turning your head quickly...as that can send you into a dizzy spell. My PCP told me the best way to know if it is inner ear is that the dizziness feels like it feels when you are drunk; i.e. the room is spinning not you are spinning. Sooooooo pay attention to what kind of dizziness it is whether it is you or the room...and that should give you your inner ear diagnosis.
I hope this info helps...btw...I'm not pulling this info out of my ass...I have been in the medical field for over 20 years...ALTHOUGH I do not claim to know it all and I am certainly not a doctor!! So, you do not have to take my word as gospel and I certainly will not be offended if you do not :) Your doc is really the only one you should listen to :)
I hope you feel better soon!
