Birth Story
Well I started contracting on Sat they were about 5-7 mins apart and I had horrible diarrhea that day. I called L&D and they said to go ahead and come up just incase so I went up and they flooded me with fluids and checked me I was about 2-3 cm dilated 50%effaced and -4. So they sent me on my way. I got home and tried to sleep but with the diarrhea and contractions YAH right!! I woke up sunday thinking okay it's going to happen today I know it. Well same thing just kept contracting. I did lose my mucus plug so I thought this is a plus something might happen now. Monday rolls along and I decided to go to Walmart and walked, walked, walked. That evening I was contracting every 2-7 mins apart so I called L&D and they said to come get checked. I went up and they said I was 3 cm 75% effaced and -1 and to go home til my water breaks. I was soooo upset I really thought that was it. I didn't sleep at all that night either so since Sat I got about 3 hours of sleep. My mom drove in monday after that just incase I did go into labor. She picked me tuesday early morning and we walked, walked, walked. We decided to go to cracker barrell and get pancakes b/c the waitress told me the would really send me into labor. HAHA!! I was desperate. We ate and the contractions were every 3-5 mins apart for hours butno water break. We headed to starbucks to get a drink and I went to set down there and I got a big gush of fluid. I went to the bathroom it was clear. I came out and said mom I think my water just leaked. So I called Craig and told him to meet me at L&D yet again. We got there and I told the Dr she said let me check you and no my water hadn't broke but I was 5cm, 80%effaced, and -1. She said let's have a baby Admit her!! I was like THANK GOD!! So i got my room it was sooo nice and big and got the pit going. About 3 hours into it I got my epidural! Thank you Jesus!!! They were uping it and uping it and I felt nothing!! Ahhh!! Well about 6 hours into it Bella's heart rate kept going nuts 180 then 100 then 90. The nurses and Dr shot in the room and put air on me and inserted internal monitor for contractions and her heartbeat. Then the Dr checked me and said no progress. Then he said okay we are going to up he pit and if nothing happens in the next couple hours it's c/s time. I started crying. I wanted Isabella to be okay but I just didn't expect that. They kept uping the pit and flipping e from my left to my right side. Well about an hour after that he came in and checked me he said now you are a 5 and 100 effaced. YAH progress. So they uped the pit again and about hours after that my epidural wore off completely from flipping me it came out, I was feeling sooo much pressure and pain I wanted to die. So the nurse came in and said we can't keep checking you b/c infection I said no please check me enough in 30mins I was fully dilated and ready to roll!! She got her stuff ready and said okay when you wanna push PUSH!! I pushed for 20 mins and she was like uhhh Jessica stop and yelled GET THE DR!!! She couldn't believe I could push like that with this being my first. So my Dr came in and said wait breathe. Hell no I wanted to push he sat down and I pushed for another 10-15 mins and she was out. I knew something was wrong when the Dr handed the baby to the nurse and said we need to work on mom NOW!! He started trying to delivery my placenta and nothing so he started pushing on my belly! OMG IT HURT!! He was pretty much punching it. He yelled get me morphine NOW!! I was in sooo much pain I wanted to die. Then the placenta came out and that's when I started hemmoraging. He yelled at the nurse to look at the placenta sure enough it broke into pieces in there. So he went digging in me to get the pieces I thought I was going to die. He said Jessica this is very serious you are loosing a lot of blood and I don't want you to die on me push through the pain and let me fix you up. He wa*****hing my stomach with one hand and up in me with the other. It was the worst pain of my life! The nurses were giving me shot after shot to help clot the blood. Finally after what seemed like 10 hours but was one. He pulled out the last piece. I was crying b/c I hadn't even seen my daughter and I was so doped up on morphine and Nubain that I couldn't even open my eyes. THen he says let repair the tear which was a level 2 tear. Then I finally got to see my baby!!! I could hardly keep my eyes open but all I could do was cry she was perfect!!! She was the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen. They put her on my bare chest and helped me kinda breast feed her as much as I could. Then I fell asleep I would wake up and shake and try and put my head up to see her and fall back. It was awful finally hours and hours later I finally started coming around and the nurses came in and helped me get Isabella on my breast to feed. She ate and ate. It was amazing!! From then on my AMAZING hubby took her and I passes out again from all the meds. The nurses would come in every couple hours and have her feed. I woke up about 6am puking but wanted my baby so I pushed through it. It was ALL WORTH IT!! I stayed in the hospital until yesterday and they let us go home. She is doing great feeding every 2-3 hours and sleeping in between that!! i am just sooo in love with her. So there's my book!! haha!! Yes it was VERY painful and scary but worth it!! Now a question for you ladies!! How long did it take you to have your first BM? i am on a stool softener X2 day. I am sore and very swollen down there.
Thank you ladies
Jessica

WOW!! What a scary experience..but I am oh so thankful your Bella is okay and you will be too once you get to healing. As far as the BM's...don't worry too terribly much about it for a few days...just keep taking the stool softeners, and it should eventually happen. You DO NOT want to strain too much down there due to the amount of swelling and stitches. The other option you can try that is home remedy is a hot soapy water enema...you put it in and try to hold it for as long as you can..they recommend 30 minutes, but that is nearly impossible...15 minutes will help some.

Congrats girl!! They are so worth it that is for sure. I had mine after about 4 days I think. But I had diarrhea in the recovery room as I was pushing my tummy like they say it was not nice. I took the stool softers though cause if not it will be much worse. I still take them right now every few days even though Hayvann is 4 weeks old just so everything is working.

Wow, crazy birth story but as you said so worth it. I had issues with my placenta discharging but nothing like that. I am glad it worked out for you and both you and baby are home and happy. As for the BM, I was required to have one before I left the hospital so they were giving me stool softeners and Milk of Magnesia to help. I had issues with hemorrhoids so was scared to go but eventually the meds kicked in and I went. I would think with all the pain meds you had you may be constipated as they tend to do that so push the fluids, stool softener, and if nothing call the doctor and maybe then can prescribe something for you. Best of Luck and enjoy your baby girl.
I am glad they were able to stop the bleeding. For the swelling, with my first the nurses would fill up a latex glove with ice and I would put it between my legs. I am sure you could do the same with a Ziploc baggy. I also used tux with witches brew. I would pat the area with that after I went to the bathroom. It took me a couple of days to have a BM. I think mostly because I was afraid it would hurt. Also a warm bath will help you to relax.
Good Luck and God Bless,
