breastfeeding and fills
Hi,
I have the band and i am currently breastfeeding. My band was unfilled during the fourth month of pregnancy but will be filled once I receive my ob/gyn clearance in January. Can anyone share their experience or concerns with fills and breastfeeding? Things I may need to be aware of, things that help...what abou****er intake when band is really tight...what affects breastmilk etc...

Hi Kenyatta,
No experience with it, but it just seems like you need to keep a moderate fill. One where you can drink lots and eat good nutritious foods, and be able to take your supplements. It is probably better to rely less on the band and more on good eating habits and exercise - try Weigh****chers, I love it there and it is how I've lossed my weight with a moderately filled band.
Best,
Leila
I had to have my band unfilled while breastfeeding (due to reflux). I stayed unfilled for almost three months and then slowly started getting filled again. By this time Hannah was about 8 months old and eating solid food too.
I had my band looked at under fluro (where you drink the barium). It was safe to do while nursing.
I wouldn't get your band so tight that it affects how much water you can drink. For me (and lot's of other women) there is a direct link between how much liquids you drink verus how much milk you produce. Also I'm not for how many calories you require a day, but make sure your band isn't so tight that you are only getting 500 or 600 calories a day.
Good luck,
Amy
