Magic Teething Pills ???

Why didn't anyone tell me teething was so horrible ??

My happy little good natured baby starts fussing out of no where !!  It makes me sad....he smiles through his fussiness....

I can feel the sharp little tooth on the bottom trying to come up.   My Questions:

1.  How long will it take for that tooth to come up??  It's been almost a week !  Anything I can do to make it come up faster?  (I'm up to any suggestions - chanting, dancing in the nude, magic potions... at this point I just hate seeing him sad!) 

2.  I thought I read about magic teething pills on here?  Are they better than Tyelonol?  (Can I give him Tyelonol?)   Orajel makes him scream and scream.... I think he hates the taste? 

3.  He's been rubbing his ear...... my sister-in-law says this is teething.  He has no fever.  Should I worry that it's his ear or is the coincidence of the ear rubbing at the same time his tooth is appearing pointing to it being just teething?

THe magic teething pills are the Hylands teething tablets.  They are all natural and if you ive a few doses close together to get started they really seem to help.  I had to do 3 doses close together and then could start spreading them further apart.  Hope this helps

Thank you!  I looked at Target but didn't see anything like this....  I am going to Toys R Us today and will check there.

I used these with 3 of my kiddos. I have been blessed that Jantzen didn't need anything. He fussed very little and Tylenol was enough.

But I did find the tablets helpful with the other kids. They make a teething gel too. Or you can use Baby Oragel.

I have also made the corner of a washcloth wet and froze it. My kids would hold on to the cloth and gnaw on the cool/frozen part and it seems to soothe thier gums. UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION of course. Good Luck.

It took Jantzen about 2 weeks until they truly broke through. Then maybe another 2 weeks before they were fully in.

Cooper's not CRYING much -- but out of no where he fusses.... and that is very unlike him. 

I will look for these Hyland's today and see if they will help - at least at night. 

The washcloth idea is a good one - I got him a frozen teether, but it's too cold on his hands so he doesn't want it.  I bet he'd like a half-frozen wash cloth instead.  Thanks!

He cries at Oragel  - maybe it's the taste?  Or maybe it's the numbing feeling?  I know he doesn't like it when he can't suck on his "suckie" and with Oragel the thing just falls out. 

Now his nose is running like a faucet and he is smearing it all around - icky!  (It's clear - so I think that's teething related)

4 weeks of this?  And for just one tooth?  man oh man!

 Who knows, I am sure someone will have an issue with what I am going to say but that is okay.  Libby has her moments where the pain from her teething is unbearable.  She will be up for a few hours in the middle of the night just crying.  It is so sad and not easy to deal with when you are half asleep.  Tylenol helps a little, teething tablets she wants nothing to do with, ibuprofen she refuses to take, frozen teethers help for a few minutes...  So, bourbon is my best friend.  Yes, I rub a TINY AMOUNT on her gums and she is fine within a minute or two.  No, I don't give it to her in a bottle or let her have a shot or anything.  I dip my finger tip in a small amount and rub her gums.  

So, when all else fails that is an option.

I did that with my oldest. He was unbearable and we couldn't get anything to work. My MIL talked me into it, cause I was scared to. Well, it worked. And he is 12 now and just fine! LOL

In fact, I told the doc about it, because I was guilty, and he laughed and said that when he first began practicing medicine, they always told moms to do it. Now he's not allowed to suggest it, but he still thinks it's a good solution.

You are not alone in that boat, Malena. Sometimes the "old time" remedies are exactly what the baby needs to get through it!

you aren't bad! My Mom did it for me too - and well I am almost 30 and fairly normal! lol No cravings for whiskey or anything...

She would also put a little Karo syrup on the pacifier to get me to take it once in a while...

My mother-in-law wanted to put HONEY on Cooper's pacifier !!

I told her honey is not good for babies..... "But we always did that....."  and I don't want him exposed to a sweet taste and associating it with comfort..... we have enough obesity problems in the family without starting that habit!!  LOL.

Mother in laws..... watch them !   (I love my mother-in-law - I really do!)

lol!!! Unfortunately my MIL passed away the year before we got married - she was AWESOME! I on the other hand have the FIL from hell!!!

I totally hear ya about the sweet = comfort thing!
