WHAT TO DO ...WHAT TO DO

I agree with Lexa - if you aren' thappy with your care - say something. My theory is you are hiring them for a service, they need to provide that service to your expectations or you have the right to say something. Also, most OB's aren't all that familiar with WLS as a whole. You should be having your labs drawn more often ESPECIALLY if you are only 7 months out. I would contact your surgeon and see if they will monitor them for you. I see 2 Dr's every month. The regular OB and Maternal and Fetal Medicine which is the perinatologist or HIgh Risk Dr.

As for the weight gain it sounds in range to me. I had terrible morning sickness so I lost 15 pounds early out and now at 18 weeks have only now started to put a few pounds back on.

Be your own advocate!!

Liz

PS - If you aren't happy with the treatment ask for a copy of your records (they have to give you by law) and find a Dr you do like!

ETA - what about folic acid and calcium - aren't you taking them?

Don't stress too much....  remember the weight gain is for the baby and you *can* and *will* lose it afterwards.

I gained 20 lbs real fast (first 4 months) then over the next 5 months I only gained 5-8 lbs (I'd go up and down).

Maybe it was the adding carbs into my diet (important for the baby) or eating more often (I got low blood sugar while pregnant quite easily) but for whatever reason I gained quickly, then leveled off.

Don't let a doctor (or anyone) put pressure on you.  Eat healthy, eat carbs --and if you give into the pregnancy cravings of potato chips and whipped cream (that was my craving) once in a while don't beat yourself up !

Take Care,

Cindy
