WHAT TO DO ...WHAT TO DO
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE MENTAL SIDE OF GAINING WEIGHT. YES I KNOW PROBABLY THE WEIGHT GAIN IS DUE TO MY INCREASED APPETITE ( AND THE LACK OF CONTROL ON THE NOT SO GOOD FOR ME FOODS)
I HAVE GAINED 17 LBS AM AM 26 WEEKS AND 3 DAYS PREGO...LAST DR VISIT I HAD I WEIGHED IN AND GAINED 3 LBS IN 2 MONTHS..( DR DID NOT WEIGH ME AT MY LAST APPT)
HE FUSSED ME..SAID IT WAS TOO MUCH I NEEDED TO WATCH MY DIET. I AM UP SET WITH HIM...OR TO ME THE LACK OF CARE...I KNOW I CONTROL MY EATING. BUT HE HAS NOT CHECKED ANYTHING..I MEAN WHEN I FIRST WENT TO HIM HE DID CK MY VITAMIN LEVELS I SUPPOSE...BUT NOTHING SINCE. I SEE HIM ONCE A MONTH LIKE A NORMAL PREGNANCY... JUST THIS WEEK I WENT AND HE SAYS WE NEED TO DO AN ULTRA SOUND IN 3 WEEKS..( I DID DO ONE AT 22 WEEKS AND SHE WAS FINE ) AND BEFORE THAT AT 18 WEEKS BECAUSE HIS NURSES PULLED THE WRONG CHART ( NOT MINE) AND DID ONE...SHE WAS FINE THEN ALSO...
I JUST DON'T KNOW I AM FRUSTRATED I SUPPOSE...WEIGHT GAIN...HORMONES...LACK OF CARE..OR AT LEAST IN MY OPINION...I CAN SAY I FEEL PRETTY GOOD...PHYSICALLY ...JUST NOT MENTALLY..I KNOW I AM BEING A BABY... BUT I AM PREGNANT...AND HARMONES DO NOT HELP..
I JUST FEEL HELPLESS...HE IS THE DR...THE SPECIALIST.... AND ON MY PART I WANT CONTROL AGAIN...JUST CANT FIND THE WILL POWER...NOT NOW ANYWAY...

Hi Cajun, I think you are putting way too much pressure on yourself here. 17lbs in 26 weeks is really not bad. You are supposed to gain between 25 and 30 just with baby, blood volume, placenta, breast increase and everything else that goes along with having a baby. You are over halfway through and in my opinion your weight isn't terrible.
As for blood testing, I had my son at 2 years out and thought I should be having more blood tests as well. I had one at the beginning to get a "baseline" then at about 28 weeks to test for Gestational Diabetes. They all came back fine. I made sure to take all my vitamins and drink lots of water and get my protein in. Once my Dr explained to me she didn't feel I was high risk, I felt a lot better.
The bottom line is: if you feel your Dr is not providing adequate care, you need to be your own advocate and switch OBs. At 26 weeks, you still have time to get comfortable with a new one. He may just have a bad bedside manner, but if he is competent you may put that aside. However, it seems to me that you are uncomfortable with him so maybe you should switch. Good Luck!

I FORGOT TO SAY THAT I WAS 7 MONTHS POST OP WHEN I FOUND OUT I WAS PREG....
I AM NOT SURE ABOUT SWITCHING...WOULD THEY LET ME...THE DR I USED BEFORE WITH MY LAST PREGNANCY ACTUALLY REFERRED ME TO THIS ONE AS A SPECIALIST..SO I JUST WENT TO HIM FIRST..BUT I MISS THE CARE I HAD WITH MY LAST BABY...HOWEVER THAT WAS BEFORE THE SURGERY...AND I WAS A DIABETIC...AND WEIGHED 100 LBS MORE....
I HAD THE WORT TIME GETTING INTO THIS DR...THEY KEPT TELLING I NEEDED MY "OLD" OB TO REFER ME TO HIM BUT MY 'BABY" IS 5 AND I JUST WANTED TO AVOID SEEING TWO DR'S...NOW I REGRET IT.
