What does round ligament pain feel like to you?

I've been having a pain in my lower stomach close to wear the pubic hair starts (sorry, but that's the only way I know how to place it) and it comes and goes but always in the same spot. It is sometimes more achy and sometimes sharp. It usually only lasts a few seconds and stops. I called the doctor about it and she thinks it's just round ligament pain. I don't remember getting any pains when I was pregnant with my daughter so this is new and of course making me a little nervous. I've had spotting off and on throughout my first trimester and after my last ultrasound, when she pressed right on the spot on my stomach, it REALLY hurt. Then the next day I had major spotting. I told the doctor all this and they still don't seemed concerned, but it's still concerning me. I'm not spotting now, but everytime I go to the bathroom, I check like I'm a crazy person or something. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has had pain that is similar and if round ligament pain keeps coming back in the same spot.

Sorry you are getting that pain! I have a weird one too and the Dr told me it was stretching or RLP. Mine is in the same spot but usually off to one side or the other. Today I have been getting some pains that feel like someone is stabbing my cervix - THe Dr had told me last time I questioned that these are "normal" and something along the lines of the stretching and RLP too. They are sharp and quick usually lasting less then 10 seconds and seem to happen more then I move quickly. THese are the times I thank God for the at home dopplar - infact I was just about to check for the heart beat now, and then I think I felt the baby move :)

Hope that the pains so away for you! Oh and the Dr told me that when they happen to go lay down for 10 minutes on my left side and have a glass of water - dehydration makes them worse.

When in doubt - call the OB!

My pain is always on the left side. Sometimes I'm not even moving and it will hurt. I know I am not drinking enough water, I should force myself too more.
I really should get me a dopplar but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to find it and get freaked out even more. The dr couldn't find it with the dopplar last time and had to do an ultrasound cause the baby was moving so much.

OH my gosh girls........what does round ligament pain feel like to me?  .......someone stabbing me repeatedly in the right ovary.

haha!  I laugh..but I'm serious!  I get it really bad.  I even thought it could be a gall stone or something but doc keeps telling me it is Round ligament.

Here is my experience:
- it is always always always in the same spot for me.  (lower right abdomen)
- it often(3-4 times/week) wakes me up out of dead sleep and I wake up crying
-occasionally it happens during the day (1-2 times/week)  It has happened 2 or 3 times while I'm driving, and the motion of moving my foot from the gas pedal to the brake triggers it....(YIKES)
- the only thing that makes it go away for me is to get up and walk around.  (I literally had to pull my car over to get out once)
- it's really painful for me.

I haven't spotted or anything as you mentioned, but other than that sounds like lots of similarities.

I have to sit down to get the pain to go away. I was in wal-mart finishing Christmas shopping and it hit me and there was no place to sit so it lasted quite a while that time. It sucked.

I think my round ligament pain felt like someone taking my legs and stretching them apart and my pelvis and all tendons attached were being stretched and stretched.... it was sharp, then it ached... ick.

BUT -- in addition to RLP I also had many other sharp / dull pains not related to RLP (I think).   When the baby started growing bigger he'd press on things, kick things, lay in the darnest positions!

For several weeks he was pressing on my sciatic nerve....that was miserable.  He was also pressing on my liver or gallbladder or something for a while - it was very painful.

If you're concerned (or the bleeding continues / gets worse) then I'd either go to the ER and/or force the issue with OB about getting another Ultrasound or something to make sure all is okay.....

Keep us updated!

I don't even want to talk about RLP...Oh, all right, if I must. Let me see. Mine is always on one or the other side and it goes from sharp severe to dull achy. I was told the same thing the PP said, drink water and lay down on the left side and I'm not sure if that or the Tylenol I take, or the heating pad (the doc said I could use it for 15 min. increments when the pain was severe) that it finally goes away. Although I had bleeding and spotting the first trimester, I didn't have any with the RLP, just a little bit of pressure in the vaginal area which they say comes along with it. Hope this helps somehow...

I just hate those pains... I asked my OB cuz mine are horrible with this pregnancy and he says sense I am having twins the belly is growing twice as fast... I'm like thanks for not helping me...lol I feel like I am being stabbed in my right lower side of my belly all the time, and I have bad saggy skin there where it hurts... It's always when I am walking to doing something... Shopping this year sucked cuz I was doubled over all the times I went shopping because of it... I haven't had spotting at all this pregnancy and I still check every time i go pee like a crazy ass mad woman...lmao
