Progesterone Experts....Question

It's been a while since I was "up" on progesterone requirements. But the nurse FINALLY called with my progesterone numbers. It sounded very low to me but she said that the PA said it was within the normal range. (Keep in mind this is NOT a PA from an OB's office. I STILL do not have an OB yet!)

So I was 5w 3days when I had the progesterone done and it was 5.5. I thought it was supposed to be over 8 or 9 by then?? I just have this gnawing feeling that it's too low. What do ya'll think?

Honestly, yes...that sounds low to me.  According to the American Pregnancy Association:

Guideline to Progesterone levels during pregnancy:

• 1-28 ng/ml Mid Luteal Phase (Average is over 10 for un-medicated cycles and over 15 with medication use)
• 9-47 ng/ml First trimester
• 17-146 ng/ml Second Trimester
• 49-300 ng/ml Third Trimester

Thanks Sarah!

Yeah I had gotten to think about the number and what my doctors previously had wanted me at and I thought they had wanted to see my numbers at least a 10 or above. I called her back and she said that the numbers were fine for the "luteal phase which is where I was". I'm dang well NOT in the luteal phase. I'm flippin pregnant already! Lord, this is WHY I need an OB! Grr...... I also told them that the number seemed low to me and even if they THINK that I'm in the normal range, I WANT progesterone suppositories. It's not going to hurt me if I DON'T need them. But I know for a FACT I do.

Yah...mine was 17.5 at exactly 4 weeks and they still put me on supplements even though that was within "normal" range.  Even though you don't have an OB yet, maybe you could quickly find an RE who would put you on them right away.

Is your HCG doubling at the rate it should?

Golly! 17.5 and they STILL supplemented? Geesh, with our last baby, I never even got to 20 by the time I was 5 MONTHS! I was my OB's problem child I guess......LOL

Well my hcg at 5w 3d was 5269. I'd say I'm good and pregnant. LOL I've had to be supplemented with all but my 1st pregnancy. I don't know what makes em think this time is any differnt. Yes I intentionally spelled that word wrong. I'm embrassing my inner Texan. (OT-Our phone book has a section at the back called, "How to speak Texan". It's hilarious! I'm putting a few things to use...for fun! Yes, I'm a huge and way immature when I want to be! LOL)

Allie, I used a progesterone cream with Dylan due to a miscarriage before him and put it on my inner thighs and arms.  It worked great.  If they won't give you something you might be able to get the cream from a drug store or a health food store.  It brought my levels up and I didn't have to use it after 12 1/2 weeks.

I STILL haven't heard back from them. They really seem like they don't give 2 ****s. Gee****'s not THEIR baby in jeopardy. I was hoping to have a prescription already. They are really incompetent. I'll have to see if our drug stores have any of the cream. I just hope nothing happens to this baby while they drag their feet.

You'll probably have to get the cream at a natural foods store, vitamin store or compounding pharmacy.

Good luck.

Yeah last night I was looking for some and found that GNC had some. CVS and Walgreen's were a no go.

My ob put me on progestrone supplements when mine dropped to 14.1.  I didn't do the suppostories(sp?)...it was a capsule.
