Do you ever feel like your doc just can't stand u?

Okay...I know the hormones are raging...duh, I'm pregnant.  And a first time mommy...but dang...it sometimes seems like the docs at the office and the office staff can't stand me!  Yeah, I know...I do call a lot...but I'd rather call and be told its fine then not call about something that could be important.

Like last night, "the man"..."the hubby", the "most brilliant mind in the world" decided it'd be cool to warm up his pizza slice in the pizza box.  Started the most beautiful fire in my oven...and smoked up the entire house.  WE got the smoke out, but I just wanted to make sure it was safe for me to be there.  Because it still smelled of smoke and I'm sure I inhaled it.

The doc was like, (sigh)...yeah its fine.  But I haven't even had to call them except this time in like 4 wks!  I've been good!!!  But its the general impression I get every time we go for an appt.   Am I crazy, sensitive, or do you think I have a beef?  They get ALOT of money for these births...I know, I work for the largest insurance company in the States.  They can at least be patient with us first time mommies.  Yes...we are crazy but we are pregnant and scared.

Vent away...I know it's easier to say, but who cares if they don't like you....You and your baby are number 1, so call them as much as you need...I do believe they all are getting paid for their jobs....I get annoyed by people at work that call me...but I have to remember what my job is....hope you have a great weekend...Stacey

I felt like that with my daughter's pediatrician. I would take her in over everything to make sure she was ok and I would feel like I was bothering him. It sucks to get that feeling, but I think it's better to be safe than sorry. I think it's rude of them to treat people like that. When it comes to baby's we just want to make sure everything is ok, I personally think it just shows we care.

OMG i totally agree with you!!  I got the "funk" (either flu strep or a cold idk.) but i called my OB to find out what she recommended for me to take.  her exact words to me were, "have you refered to the list I gave you"  I explained to her, Yes, I have looked at the list however this "list" has things on it, (motrin) and other NSAIDS that I cant take as a RNY patient.  so her reply was "oh, well if its on the list its ok for your baby" and i responded with IF ITS NOT OK FOR ME, AND THE BABY IS IN ME ITS NOT OK FOR THE BABY, I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR DAMN LIST I NEED TO KNOW WHAT "I" CAN HAVE!!  And yeah....it was rough

Needless to say, I am interviewing drs because I want someone that can look at a chart for me and know ME and my situation.  Not give me a general list to follow not all pregnancies are the same and not every mommy to be should be treated the same way.

That's what they get paid the big bucks for. Better to call than have something be serious and not call at all. I'd chalk it up to impatience on their part and THEIR problem........not yours.
