Medication Question

First let me say that I had my first doctor visit yesterday and everything looks good. Healthy baby growing right on schedule. There was a small area where the sac wasnt attached to the uterine wall, but the doctor didn't seem too concerned. But in all the excitement of seeing my little peanut on the ultrasound, I forgot to ask him what I could take for my allergies. I normally take Claritin, but I wanted to make sure it was ok. I just feel so silly for forgetting something that has been causing me so much trouble.

SO my questions is what can I take for my allergies? Can I take Claritin?

Thanks,
Christina

Of course every doc is different but I was always told no antihistamine type products because it raises your heart rate which in turn raises the babies - but that being said Benadryl was ok'd .. go figure! This is certainly NOT meant to replace what your doc says but have you checked out safefetus.com?

Good Luck!

plain claritin is on my OK list but definately call the OB office and ask them for your specific situation.

I take Benadryl nightly with my doctor's blessing because it relieves my allergies for the night and helps me sleep but I know I would not be able to take it during the day.  If I did, they'd find me sleeping at my desk.

Always ask your doc. What's ok for one person might not be ok for another based on their health history. Benadryl IS ok however. Tylenol PM (which is just acetaminophen and benadryl) is my LIFESAVER during pregnancy.
