OT: baby food
Even that is rare, and mostly in cases where the child is of dark complexion or lives in an area where there is little or no sunlight (think Alaska). Most of our children get enough sunlight, even in winter, so that they do not need supplements (infact most supplements can do more harm then good because they cause stomach upset and constipation).
Thanks! I hadn't done much research on the breast-fed thing since I didn't get further than 4 weeks with Cooper. :-(
My ped just said that to me when about cereal when Cooper turned 4 months old.
Take Care,
Cindy

I stand corrected. I was merely reciting what the ped told me when Cooper turned 4 months old.
:-)
He also said if Cooper was breastfed he HAD to take a multi-vit. (Not just D)

I think its really kind of like formula, their are laws about how they are made and what they contain, so one is just as good as the other. I am a fanatic about processed food, and I would be ok with feeding just about any of the major brands. I would probably get what was on sale or what I had coupons for (although like someone else said, I would probably go with the glass jared ones).
Tristan had his first spoon fed cereal today. His doctor wanted him on it before his 4 month appointment in January. He has GERD pretty bad and solid food is less likely to come up apparently. I've also been mixing it in his bottles (not much about 2 teaspoons/6oz.)per his pediatrician. I was told to stick to cereal until 4 months and then to start on veggies. My pedi said to stick to green veggies for a while since yellow/orange veggies and fruits are sweeter and it may cause him to turn up his nose at the less sweet green ones.
I plan to make Tristan's food, but we will hopefully be on WIC soon (since it's just me working now) and they cover Gerber. But aside from that, the FDA governs what's in them like they do formula... so I'd be buying whatever was cheapest and whatever I had coupons for.
