so, my gallbladder is coming out while pregnant, at 19 weeks
I am getting my gallbladdder out on Jan. 13th. I will stay overnight and be monitored in Labor and Delivery getting the heartrate checked every hour and having an ultrasound prior to leaving the hospital.
The surgery will be done lap. by my bariatric surgery and he is consulting with my OB to make sure what needs to be done during the surgery to make sure baby is safe....I do trust my surgeon and he made me feel okay about the surgery (even though I cried and told him if something happened to my baby I'd be so upset with him)....this baby is my world, so I just worry about it. The doctor says it would not be safe to leave it in thats why is must come out now.
So Jackie (cameronsmom) is my angel, I will contact her when I am going into surgery and when I come out so she can update everyone and let you guys know.
Just so you all know, you are the best support I have, I really weighed not donig th surgery after talking with you all and only after my surgeon said it had to come out did I finally give in....thanks for everything!

Good luck lady, I will be praying.
On a positive note, it is probably better to have it out at this point then leave it in, Michelle Duggar went into VERY early labor because she did not have her GB taken out.

I have a question. My gallbladder has been acting up and we're hoping I can make it through pregnancy and have it removed after the baby is born.
What happened that made them decide to take it out now versus waiting? My pain isn't severe (just under the point where it'd make me cry... and if I do cry it's not big fat tears and loud sobs, just a little whimper and a few tears). My episodes aren't too frequent and typically are a direct result of something I ate (still new to this and figuring out my trigger foods).

I have had tow severe attacks that have put me in the hospital (well ER) but they can't do anything for me. After talking with my High Risk OB(Becuase I got pregnant onl after 3 months surgery) and my surgeron they decided that I have too many stones in my gallbladder, plus I have symptoms and my common bile duct is getting obstructed that if they didn't do it now in the 2nd trimester that I may end up in an emergency situation and have to have surgery in the 3rd trimester and have to deliever earlier- the risks are less now. So after many weeks of thinking I have agreed becuase everyone I have talked to that has had surgery during pregnancy (esp. gallbladder surgery) the babies have all been fine.
Good luck, I hope you can make it. I wanted to but obv. Doctors know best, so if they say wait then wait!

Good Luck!! Just a bit of encouragement. I had surgery at 30 weeks. Internial Hernia and adhesions because they were bad and drs concerened that if I waited infection was greater risk for baby. I had RNY surgeon and my OB assisted. I was fine and d/c 6 hrs later even though I was supposed to stay night. The scariest part was baby dud not move for a few hrs from anastesia. Everyone scared me but I was hooked up to NST during recovery an that helped ease my worries.
