growing pains?
so for the past 4 days I have had a constant but mild pain in my right side right under my rib cage. you know when you exercise too much and get a cramp in your side. its exactly like that but it's constant...it won't go away and I'm not sure if its due to pregnancy or something else. I go to my ob dr next week so I will also ask then but just checking to see if this is common?
I'm 19 weeks.
I'm 19 weeks.
I didn't mean to scare you! I was just at the Dr yesterday tho and I have some swelling from my knees down (swelling is also a sign of pre eclampsia) so she asked me a bunch of other questions and one of them was if I had pain below my right rib. Other signs are high blood pressure and a constant head ache. If you don't have any other symptoms I'm sure you're just fine! Maybe give a call into your OB office or nurse line and see what they say...?

I would call the OB and at least ask. I am sure that it is gas, stretching, growing pains or another of the "normals" that they always tell us lol I am almost 18 weeks and get a lot of those kind of pains, I was told it was things like your rib cage stretching making room for the baby.
feel better!

Katie, as a HELLP syndrome survivor...lol...I strongly recommend calling your OB and at least letting them know what is going on. Especially the daily headaches and the pain under your right rib cage. The pain could be an indication that you are having some issues with your liver. It also could be nothing. It is just so better to be safe than sorry. I was in the hospital off and on from week 24 until week 31 when they induced due to HELLP syndrome. (Fancy new name for pre-eclampsia with a few added complications thrown in). My symptoms were mild headache daily..funny feeling in my head and seein spots in my vision, elevated BP, pain in my right side, and swelling.
My guess would be they will have you come in and do some blood work, check your BP, examine you to see if your liver is enlarged...and send you home.
It is so better to be safe than sorry. This is a condition that women die of because of non treatment. I am very passionate about this because I almost died from it.
My post is not to scare you at all, as I REALLY think you are okay, but it is simply to inform you of something that many docs do not tell you about.
Take care, and I hope (I know this sounds crazy) that you are just constipated or baby is just pushing on your ribs causing you the discomfort. Take some Tylenol for your headaches and see if that helps. Also, I know for many WLS patients soda is a no-no...I'm not one of them...but try drinking a diet soda with caffeine as well. A lot of times that will help a mild headache to go away. If you have trouble with the carbonation...let it sit and go flat before you drink it.
If you have any questions, I'm here!
