Can you strech your pouch during pregnancy?
Hi Marica,
not really sure if you can or not. I am sure with a ton of overeating it could be possible, but highly unlikely. I find that sometimes I can eat alot, and then the next meal barely anything. I know during pregnancy we eat more than usual, but I don't think stretching our pouches will happen. This is my second post op baby and while I did gain some weight back before getting pregnant a second time it was because of poor eating habits, not because I stretched my pouch.
If you are really concerned, call your surgeon's office or talk to the nut.

I don't know if this is true or not but I have heard that when you are pregnant the hormones in your body allow you to digest a lot faster to make it possible for you to get in more nutrients for the pregnancy and that may be the reason we can eat more than we could pre pregnancy. I really hope I can't eat as much as I can now after I have the baby!!

I don't know if its true either but it really makes sense.
I know even 2 weeks ago I could eat way more than I can now. I can still shovel it in (I"m breastfeeding and need to keep up the calories and crap) but I just eat more often now rather than more at a time.

Your pouch will stretch somewhat during pregnancy.
The body releases a hormone called relastin that helps stretch things like your skin and uterus -- as well as your stomach (and, yes, unfortunately, your pouch).
After the birth, the relastin is resorbed back into the system, and for the most part, everything returns back to normal. Your pouch may be a bit larger.. and this is highly individualistic.. but it won't be the same size as it was pre-op.
Trust me -- two babies, and 60lbs gain for each later, I STILL have restriction.
