Update on Doctor's Visit

Hey guys,

HR Clinic visit today was good. Unfortunately they didn't do the sonogram so we still don't know what we're having. They want me to have a fetal ekg of the baby because of being diabetic. Since I am going to the radiologist for that they suggested I have my anatomy ultrasound then since I will be further along and their equipment is better.

We did get to listen to the heart beating again. That was nice and strong. All in all the visit went well but I was just wishing to see the little one again. BTW, I have been having a hard time getting to and staying asleep for the past two nights any suggestions on getting sleep? Dr. says not to get up and do anything just lay there even if its for hours.

So glad that all is well - sorry that they didn't do the us though :( When is your fetal EKG?? Hopefully the wait isn't too long.

My OB recommended sleepy time tea or benadryl. Hope that you can get some better sleep!

Thanks. My fetal ekg is Jan. 15 so that will be when I know anything. My dr. recommended tea too which is confusing because it has caffeine and they say no caffeine before bed. The first night I stayed up like this I had taken Benadryl for an allergic break out so I kind of thought it was the reason I didn't sleep until it happened again last night.

well sleepy time tea doesn't have any caffeine. I think that it is made with camomile which is supposed to be soothing. What about a nice warm shower before bed? I have always had trouble sleeping and the Dr recommended turning off the computer and TV at least an hour before bed and laying quietly and reading. My mom has the same reaction from Benadryl - it makes her wired.

Hope that you get  some good sleep soon!

I've always heard that if you can't sleep, it's better to get up and do something cause it wears you out and then you can sleep better. But if your doc says to do it that way, maybe that is best.

Yes, she said by laying there at least your body and your legs (carrying the extra weight) get a full night of rest from carrying you around. Also she said you are more likely to find things to stimulate you to stay up longer instead of making you tired.

I've been taking Benadryl nightly and feeling really guilty about it but I talked to my doctor and she said it's totally fine to take it every night if I need to.  I have insomnia AND allergies so I really suffer if I don't take it.

Later in pregnancy I took Benadryl quite frequently, doctor also said fine and better than not sleeping for hours (literally), and Elijah turned out perfectly fine.
