Pregnant 8 months Post Op
I am 36 years old and got pregnant 8 months after my rny surgery. Although I am very excited because I've always wanted a baby, but never thought it would happen, I didn’t think that I would get pregnant so soon! I had only lost 65 lbs when I got pregnant and now I am 18 weeks into the pregnancy and have gained 11 pounds. Anyone get pregnant so soon? If so, how have you dealt with losing the weight after the baby? Also, was the health of the baby impacted in any way? I would really like some insight into this. I have been taking my vitamins and iron supplements and I am going to a nutrition specialist, so I am good with my health care, I just want to make sure my baby is ok and secondly that I am able to lose more weight after the pregnancy, since I have like 60 more pounds until I get to my goal weight. Thanks for listening and sharing!

Hello and Congrats!... I am also 18 weeks pregnant but I got pregnant just about 4 months out of surgery. I have been losing weight still and haven't gained anything but I know it's coming... I was 412 when I found out I was pregnant and I am down to 353 I have lost 59 lbs sense September. I think I am still losing a lot though because I am still really over weigh. Lots of people get pregnant shortly after surgery I noticed. It seems like your doing everything your suppose to... I know weight gain is normal, my NUT is freaking me out cuz I keep gaining, but I think that's cuz I got twinny's in there but my babies and i are healthy and all my labs are fine... I'm not all that worried about it... well take care and keep in touch... :)

welcome to this board! and congratulations!
While not ideal to get pregnant before the 12 to 18 month mark or longer by some surgeon's standards...it happens all the time.
I accidentally got pregnant at 10 months out. Now for me, I had lost all but 15 pounds of what I wanted to lose. I am now on my second post op baby. I am 30 pounds heavier than I was when I got pregnant with my daughter. I will be getting back to the basics, after this baby is born.
You will still have your tool and it will still work, you might just have to work a bit harder for it. I got into the relaxed state and my old habits came back. I realized when I got pregnant that I needed to do something about that. So this time I am being extra careful and drinking more protien shakes...something that I hadn't done in the last 2 years or so.
good luck! wishing you a healthy pregnancy!
