LOL...Too high risk for the high risk Dr!
Lordy, so I try to call to get in to see my last OB. He's going to stop delivering babies soon. They'll have to refer me out. I tell them I need to see a high risk OB and they gave the name of one of my OB's associates. Call their office and ask if they can take me on. I give them my info and whatnot and they call me back several hours later telling me that I'm too high risk for them to take me on.
Sounds like OB hunting has just got a WHOLE lot harder and I needed to be in to see someone like yesterday! lol Geesh......Any suggestions?

lol......no not just WLS. This will be pregnancy #8, baby #5 C-section #5. I've had a rough RNY road to say the least and all of the issues are not resolved yet......a million times better than they were, but not totally resolved. I'm also still taking a pretty strong powered pain medication that I can't go off of at the moment, but it's not recommended to just stop taking it due to pregnancy. It can cause more harm than good. It's something that needs to be watched closely. I require progesterone supplementation during my pregnancies and have hypothyroidism. I also had some pre-term labor issues with my last one and was on complete bedrest for 14 weeks.
Well, I think that's all. I guess the high risk doc didn't think he could handle it all........or didn't want to. Who knows?? Just don't know what kind of doc I'm supposed to see if not a high risk one. I've seen a high risk doc for all of my pregnancies but my 1st. I kinda feel lost and I don't normally feel that way regarding pregnancy! lol
Oh and this will be my 1st post WLS baby. I was here on the boards for my last pregnancy (that baby is now 3) just because I was already on OH and because I had been trying to WLS and I was fat, so I hung out here.....LOL Learned a heck of a lot and offered help on the pregnancy side of things since I knew NOTHING about being a WLS patient at the time....lol But it was fun. Met a lot of people. Stayed a long time. We had planned to start TTC in Jan of this year, but that didn't happen as I was still having RNY issues. But, here I am now.....all in God's timing. Now if I can find a Dr.........

Thanks Liz! Maybe I need to see a perinatologist? I know I went to one once during my last pregnancy to get an u/s because I had to much amniotic fluid. I think my boy just peed too much because he's STILL a HUGE pee-er. I've seen kid pee as much as he does. At night, we gotta change that boy 2 to three times so he doesn't soak the bed! LOL Silly kiddo we got! lol
So are you having issues? Sorry if I'm being nosey.

Nope no issues *knock on wood*!! My OB just wants monthly measurements of the baby since I am post RNY. So far baby is growing AHEAD of schedule. I also had a miscarriage in June, blighted ovum, so this puts my mind at ease. Infact I am going to see them for an Ultrasound today! Nope - I'm an open book - ask away!
Oh ok.....phew! I was hoping there wasn't a problem, but ya nevah know. Especially when someone is going to a specialist. Sorry to hear of your miscarriage. But thank God you're pregnant again and hopefully the pregnancy is going along smoothly! Do you know what you're having? Or will you find out today? Any preference? I know we all prefer healthy but we wouldn't be human if at some time or nother we didn't have a preference. We have 3 boys and 1 girl. We prefer healthy first obviously, but after that, we're WISHING, DREAMING of another girl....a sister for our little 6 year old sweetheart! lol
Thanks :)
We don't want to find out. I would imagine that they could tell us today, I am 17w4d. Hubby can't go with me today because of a work commitment so my mom is going along - it'll be fun!! Since this is our first I have no preference - I would love to be blessed with a boy and a girl eventually. I think it is a girl but my family and friends seem to be split.

Allie - If I remember right, you are in the Dallas area. I have a fantastic OB, who is a RNY patient herself and has had kids after her RNY. She has a number of WLS patients and does not necessarily consider us high risk just because of our surgery.
Her name is Dr. Leslie Welborne 972-731-6565. She practices at Centenial Hospital on Coit and 121 and is also affiliated with Frisco Baylor.
Good luck!

Yep, you remember right! I live closer to you than Dallas, but I'll probably end up with a Dr. that I'll have to travel to. I just need to find one. I'm definitely not just high risk because of the surgery. Uterus isn't attached to the stomach and all that jazz. LOL I'll give her office a call. Is she a high risk OB though?
