i am
I got my positive home pregnancy test on Saturday. I honestly dont know if I should laugh or cry so I'm doing both at different times right now. This will be baby #4. I am terrified for so many reasons and selfishly enough gaining weight back is one of them! I feel like a horrible person. I just finished my B.A. in Psychology in October. I am applying for Grad School for next fall. I am so scared that I cant get the nerve to tell anyone other then my parents, my DH and my best friend.
Right after I think about gaining weight I start to think, OMG I had a gastric bypass and I know nothing about pregnancy after one. I get my thoughts together and i think. this baby is a blessing and I am going to treat this pregnancy as such. So I think I'm about 4-5 weeks along. Does anyone have any links to good information about keeping this baby and myself healthy? I wont have a prenatal until late january early feburary i imagine. so please tell me what you know :)

There aren't many links about pregnancy after WLS -- the people who know most about it are right here.
It's something I thought about incorporating in my blog, since there's plenty of space. Maybe one day.
But for now, try not to worry.
You'll need some lab work at the beginning of your pregnancy, and then additional labs every 8 weeks or so. There are certain things that tend to drop rapidly in post op patients while incubating little ones -- iron, vitamin D, b-12, and if you have horrible with morning sickness, thiamin (b1). I can give you a suggested list of labs if you'd like, as well as the ASMBS list of vitamins you can tweak based on those lab results.
My biggest suggestion is to get your hands on your labs and watch for trends.. if you notice your numbers trending down, fix it before they get too low, etc. It's easier to fix a problem before it becomes a major problem.
Beyond that, make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids (trust me, it helps with constipation), eating 100g of carbs, and *try* for 90g of protein.. but that's gonna be hard if you have a common protein aversion for the first trimester.
And if you need any help, come by, ask for it -- that's what the board is for.

this is my first baby, but I too just finished my BA in psychology. I planned on going for my masters. I did plan this baby but I figured this would give me some time to get refocused on school and take a few years off.
Also a TON of my friends have kids and are in school, it can be done!
You really need to watch your vitamins and make sure you advocate for yourself with your OB's. A lot of them think they know about RNY but really do not.
Congrats!

being pregnant isn't much different after the surgery... I know you feel I was crying and then I was happy... I got pregnant just about 4 months out so you can see my reasoning for being upset. I just didn't know what to do... Everyone on here is just awesome they help me so much... I think I was on the verge of a panic attack when I found out I was having twins, which made me cry again... But congrats and all us ladies are here for ya... :)
