PlastiBell circ?

Since this is my 1st and only son, I'm new to the whole baby boy penis adventure! LOL.....so.....Bryder had the PlastiBell circ done last Friday before we left the hospital.  It fell off last night just like they said it would.  Now, how should I go about cleaning it? Aslo, now that it's off he "sprays" us! LOL I was told boys do this when the cold air hits it! Any advice on this? A friend of mine said a wet wipe warmer? IDK? Just looking for input is guess.....

The wipe warmer just dries the wipes out. I cleaned Max's with clean warm water and soft guaze pads, let air dry for a few seconds and then put some ointment on a guaze pad and put it on his penis then put his diaper on. I did this until it healed. Once a day I would let it dry for a little while and just cover his penis up with a face cloth to prevent spraying.

As for spraying while changing, I just do it real fast! :)

Just gently rinse with warm water.  Pat dry completely and put Bacitracin ointment on with a light gauze pad between his penis and the diaper (to prevent chafing or irritation).  Once the area isn't red anymore, you can stop.  To avoid the preliminary gush, open the diaper in the front for a second, then quickly hold it back over the penis.  The exposure to quick cold was usually enough for Everett to empty before getting involved in the whole change.  Also, keep cloth diapers folded and handy as they make a great blotter if he starts spraying.

The wipes warmers were useless, IMHO.  By the time the wipe actually touched the parts, they were cold again.  Not to mention there was a massive recall on one shortly after they hit the market (Prince Lionheart brand?).

For the spraying....open his diaper and let the air hit then cover quickly back with same diaper.  As far as the cir.  we were told to do the same Amy was told....with each diaper change put vaseline on gauze and the position over tip.  Once the redness is gone you don't have to gauze anymore.  Then you can just clean with baby wipe like normal.

after it all heals up.. make sure that you acutally lift the penis up when wiping... and if you get a slimy white gooey film.. dont worry.. it normal and just pee pee cheese

 The penis tends to stick to the testicles.  So you have to actually lift the penis off the testicles and wipe under it.  LOL  I always talk to Alex when I'm doing this for some reason and say "Don't worry Baby Boy, Mommy is not playing with it.. just cleaning!"  I'm so weird!

And what seems to work for me with the sudden pee is to open the diaper up, and throw a wipe over the penis and then wait a sec before going on with the change.

I found this while doing a search on plastibells, and I happen to be a wls patient. I'm so glad I didn't cut my son. I didn't have to do any of the things mentioned above. He rarely, if ever peed on me. The reason is because his glans is covered by foreskin and doesn't trigger the urine reaction. I also never had to pull back the skin to keep it from reattaching because his skin is fused to his glans. Lastly I never had to put a carcinogen like Vaseline on an open wound. Ladies, if any of you are still having babies, please reconsider circumcision. Only 38% of American boys are being cut now. Only 18% of the world is cut. Let your son make his own decisions regarding his penis.
