Diabetes?
Okay so here goes...
i was not diabetic prior to WLS. Now that I am pregnant everytime I eat something- anything i get rapid heart beat and my pulse gets high. I have been real thirsty lately as well and wake up with dry mouth in the middle of the night etc. I took my resting heartbeat the other night after i ate and laying down it was 97! my blood pressure was fine, but my pulse was off the charts.
Call me crazy but if I am not mistaken these are signs of diabetes? Thirsty, rapid heart beat after eating etc.
I go to the doctor on Tuesday and I will certainly mention these issues with him. It just doesn't seem right. Especially the rapid heart beat thing right after I eat. It feels like my heart is going to pump right out of my chest sometimes.

You could be more sensitive to sugars, and experiencing dumping. If you have a glucometer, start checking your blood sugars when you feel that way. I'm officially dealing with gestational diabetes, and have to check my sugars 4 times a day starting today. Fun Fun Fun! I had the same issues pre-op when pg with my son.
Hey there my friend.
Congrats on the baby, how exciting is that? DO you know for sure it's diabetes? I had it prior to surgery and that wasn't one of my symptoms at all. Like the other person said, go out and get a meter and see if they are high. You should not be eating that much sugar to cause that in the first place young lady. Also there is a blood test that the doctors can do that will average your blood sugars. Talk to your doctor and find out for sure, it's not healthy for the little bun in the oven or you.
Miss you bunches, you have come so far, and your life is so different than when I first met you. Take great care of yourself....Love U bunches

Hi Ms. Diane! Hahahhaha you found me on this board. I saw that face and i got sooo happy! I am not sure if it's diabetes or not. You know how sometimes we diagnose ourselves...
The funny thing is, is that i am not eating much sugar at all. I haven't really changed my eating habits since i found out i was pregnant and still walking like i used to so that is the mystery. I checked my blood sugar the other night about 45 minutes after i ate and it was 137. Then my dad came in and he checked it again about 1 hour and a half later and it dropped down to 92. I am not sure what is going on but something doesn't seem right. I'll find out more on Tuesdays.
Miss u and love you.

This is my first pregnancy - but aren't those all just "normal" symptoms? I know my Dr had mentioned that with all the extra blood we are producing that your heart rate could feel like it is a lot higher. Also, thirst - we should be drinking about 100 oz of water according to my OB - is that about where you are?
Good luck on tuesday!

Good luck on tuesday!

Hi Liz. I am not sure if it's normal or not. I do know however (and thank you for bringing that up) that I am not drinking as much water as I should be drinking. I need to definatley crank that up for sure. I am nowhere at 100 oz of water.
Good thing I am going to see him on Tuesday. I am going to start writing questions down and my symptoms BEFORE i go see the doctor. Seems like I am always forgetting stuff when i go there and then when I leave i say, "oh i forgot to mention this or that."
Anyway, have a wonderful day and happy Friday.
