How long after WLS did you TTC?

I am sure this question has been asked a million times, but I'm new to this board, so I'm asking again!  LOL!  My surgeon says to wait about  18 mos. after surgery, but my OB/GYN says it's ok to only wait 1 yr., but she really stressed that she doesn't want me to get pregnant before that.  So, I was just wondering how you all handled that issue. 

My surgeon and teh other surgeons at Barix (he was there at that time) said 18-24 months or until you are close to goal and maintaining at least 6 months.

My surgeon said 12-18 months but was cool when it happened at 11 months for me.  Then again I had lost almost all the weight I had wanted to and had recovered on my own from anemia.

My surgeon's office said 12 to 18 months. 

That being said, I was 10 months out when I found out I was pregnant.  I was also 15 pounds from my goal weight. 


Good luck, I would really wait at least 12 months.  Just to make sure your body is ready.

I waited until I hit goal which was 14 months post-op.

12-18 months is the best. Me I got knocked up at 4 months out... totally not on purpose I wanted to wait at least 18 months out.

Hi and welcome! I waited the one year and got pregnant the first month of trying! Guess they weren't kidding the surgery can make you fertile again!

Thank you all for your replies!  I am definitely planning on waiting until at least a year after my surgery to TTC, but I just wanted to hear from others who have gone throught it!  Thanks!
