How does your (almost) 6 month old sleep ??
Hi Cindy!
Glad to see your little one is such a good boy for you! I agree with the last post in that "through the night" is so subjective. My ten week old has just started sleeping from about 11:30pm to 7:30am and I feel that's "through the night". If she isn't doing it consistently by the time she's 15lbs I will probably start giving her less and less in the bottle during the middle of the night feed to make it less appealing and if that doesn't work, I will try letting her cry a bit and then just go in to rub her tummy and give her her soother back and leave again. I got the 15lb figure from the Dr. Ferber sleep book/technique and since my chubby little girl is already almost 14lbs, it won't be too much longer.
I'm glad you got so much advice here. It will just be alot for you to sift through!
Good luck!
Alison

Cindy & Cooper,
First off, very cute photo!! :-) He's such a sweetie....
Zander is turning 1 this Sunday but at 6 months he was sleeping about 7-9 hours a night... I started using a single grain cereal (rice) in his bottles or even off a spoon if he'd eat it before bedtime... They sleep best when their little tummies are full so that would be my suggestion...
The texture thing was an issue so I found using a feeding bottle at night w/ the cereal & formula or cereal/fruit/formula was best... My sister bought be a great feeding bottle system and Zander did great with it... We still feed him about 10 or 10:30 before we're ready to go to bed... He will eat either a jar of fruit or cereal (oatmeal) w/ fruit mixed in... He sleeps great unless he's teething (like right now he's cutting all 4 top front teeth right now....)
Hope you can get him to sleep better for you... Although 5 hours isn't bad really... All babies are different to be honest... But I would honestly try to feed him some food at bedtime so he'll be more content and sleep better...

150# kept off over 5 years now - Thank you Dr Kim!!!
I go by what my "manual" (Baby 411) says. I don't have it with me, but I think for a 5 month old they consider "through the night" to be 6 hours at a time and they say that no more than 6 hours should elapse between feedings (I'm not sure what the guideline is for a 6 month old). Rowan has gone a bit longer once in a while, but usually he is in bed between 7:30pm and 8pm and he'll wake to eat between 2am and 4am. He'll go back to slee after that feeding and sleep until anywhere between 6:00am-7:30am, then he is ready to get up, even if he isn't hungry.
A little while ago it seemed like he was starting to wake twice a night, but I found it was more of him just waking himself up as he tried to squirm into a new sleeping position. Now if he rustles around before about 2am, I just help him reposition himself a little or give him his pacifier, and he usually goes right back to sleep.
