One of the many reasons we didn't even tell people the names that we were considering! Then again, my name is Devrah and my husband is Sylvan, so could either of our families really complain?? 
Although, when I first told my mom his name is Rowan, she responded with, "Roland?" Since then, we've gotten that a few times, mostly when we're on the phone.

I haven't told my family the baby's real name yet. I told them her name will be Esther Ruth. I'll let them munch on that for a while, that way, when they find out her real name, they will be relieved. Needless to say, I'm constantly getting hateful text messages and emails about how ugly and old-fashioned the name is. I just smile inside, happy they don't know her real name. I tell them, they had their chances to name their children, now let me name mine.

I love the name! I went to High School with a girl named Aurora, she was a sweetheart, unique and very cool!
It's a beautiful name and if that's what you want your daughter to be named, that's your business! I don't think most people know the backround of the name!
