That's disgusting. He should at LEAST be relating it to the booze! LOL (Really though, with that kind of comparison, he should keep his mouth SHUT) That's where my brain goes, and I like it, but then again, I'm the one who has named her dogs after booze (Tequila & Jager - RIP/SoCo & Bailey - current - SoCo is short for Southern Comfort, my fave shot). And I just realized that it sounds like I'm comparing my dogs to your son, and I don't mean it like that!! LOL

hehehe My dogs name is Captain Morgan. We call her Morgan. We had two betas, one was Strawberry Daqurie (I suck at spelling). We called him Daq and the other was Jose. I loved my little Jose and bawled like a damn baby when he died.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
Baby 7-09
Xavier Elliott born 10-5-10
We've had a strict no telling rule on names for both of our boys and will with this baby, too, for that exact reason. I know my family and my bff too well. They are too outspoken. I knew they would hurt my feelings, and I knew that I would have trouble getting over it. I figured none of them would have the guts to say anything negative AFTER I had labored, delivered, and the name was on the paperwork.
Our oldest is named Aidan. We were on the front-end of that trend and you should have seen the puzzlement on peoples faces...even the nurses' in a large city hospital. It was as though we had completely made the name up. My dh's grandmother had to concentrate on saying the name because she had so much trouble with it because it wasn't mainstream. It was like her tongue tripped over it. But that's who he is...an Aidan. A couple of months after he was born she even admitted that she didn't care for it early on but couldn't imagine him having any other name by then.
It's your right to name your baby whatever you like, and everyone else can bite it. But my advice would be to spring it on them when it's a done deal and not before...for your sanity's sake.

That is why we didn't say names either. Picking a name is sooo hard, and no one wants to hear bad comments. I think Aurora sounds beautiful and if people give her the nickname Rory, I like that also. Of course my son is Jackson and I don't like for people to call him Jack. I would tell people I named him Jackson for a reason so please call him that. I also like the name Jack and if wants to go by that later that is fine. I say keep the name and if anyone says something bad again, tell them you are glad that they are not responsible for naming her.

Don't get bent out of shape. You are stressing too much over nothing. Who freaking cares if she doesn't like the name. And, she was being honest with you, not lying.
I told my best friend I didn't like the name she picked for her daughter. She said *F* you, laughed and we went on about our business. I was honest, so was she. End of story.
It's YOUR child. So quit stressing over what someone else thinks. the only person who has the right to ***** is the child when they become an adult, and they want to give you hell for the name you chose. but hell, that's years away! LOL
Cheer up, and let it go!
PS....No one liked ANY of my childs names when I was preggo. I didn't care or give a crap. That's one 100% liberty I had and planned one using it to MY liking, not opinions of others.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Don't not stress over what people say. I remember what people used to say to my friends when they were pregnant and they told people the names they liked- the faces and comments!! So mean. I made a vow then that when I get pregnant I would never tell anyone what names we like. It is my baby and if people don't like it oh well. I do not like some names that my friends picked out but it is not my baby and I would never tell them I do not like it- what do I care really.
Just ignore it. I am 14 weeks pregnant and we have a name for a boy and a name for a girl picked out and that is what it is going to be. We have told my family and my hubby's family and they are sworn to secrecy!!! People will find out when they visit me at the hospital or the birth announcements go out!!!
Aurora is a very pretty girl's name!!!!!!!

Aurora was my cats name... I love it... She was named by the rescue agency I adopted her from. We called her Rory. When I discuss names with people they always say that.. you can't name him/her that. My dog has that name... Well **** Them!!! I love animals. Aurora is a common animal name because people do not have the balls to name their kids cool names.
