Apparently "Aurora" sounds like barf.

It does not. It means light. My cousin's daughter is named Aurora and we call her Rory. It also is french for Dawn (well it's actually Aurore). I got this alot when I was pregnant because I am a bit excentric. the only people who matter are you and the other parent. Sometimes letting your close family weigh in is ok, but it's still all you!

You need to let that go.   Who gives a rats butt what anyone thinks about the name you are choosing.    The only opinions that matter are yours and your husbands. 


Your friend was being a friend by being honest.   So she doesn't like the name.  Eh, does it really matter?   Maybe she could have been a little more tactful in her distaste for the name, but what can you do. 

People despise Dylan's name for a girl.   Do I care?   Obviously not.   LOL  

People are rude...and not that you asked for my opinion, but I think Aurora sound like a princess! (and so do my girls)
We liked the name Amylia and told and "friends" who had their daughter 6 weeks before us named her Amelia.  They were like...well we spelled it differently! Needless to say our daughter is named Jiada and we learned not to tell...but the hard way and on our last kid! LOL Hang in there.

oh man thats not right i like the name... dont let people tell you other wise... My one friend told me not to name my daughter Lola because it would make her think of the kinks song about lola being a transvestite... I dont care I still named her it... I loved the name

Stick with Aurora, lie to everyone and say you changed your mind and no one will say anything once it's a fait accompli, you watch.  And if they do, say well, since we're being honest.... that will probably get them to drop it ;)

I hear you.... my OWN BROTHER... Still (after 5 yrs) thinks I "randomly" put letters together to make my son's name "Brayden". and when I told him about this baby's name "Jamison" he said he was gonna call him "Jenna" because APPARENTLY it reminds him of the PORN STAR Jenna Jamason... (its spelt different too.. lol)  Guess it tells a lot about him...

I say.. Name her WHATEVER YOU want!!!!!!! it is YOUR baby and YOUR decision!!!
