OT: Question re: Playtex Ventaire nipples
They say not to use another brand of nipple with those (we are using them too) because it messes with the venting or something...but we noticed that the Medela nipples fit. We were sent home with GOBS of those little Similac 2 oz bottles and disposible nipples and the girls got attached to them but we had to find bigger bottles eventually. We found that those disposible nipples fit the Medela and Vent Aire. They are "standard" size so I'm sure the Gerber ones fit also.
Good luck! We are having the same issue and the girls are only 4 weeks (however, they haven't even reached their due date yet!). Chloe seems to suck the life out of the nipples yet it takes her forever to finish a bottle. We bought the fast flow nipples and she drowns too. I hope you find something in-between as we've been wondering the same thing.

We are good but I'm exhausted! Having 4 kids is tough...I can't imagine how tough it will be when the girls are mobile!! LOL. But, we are making it. I wish I could figure out their eating schedule though. Chloe (the bigger one) can go 4+ hours on 4 oz of formula. Clara, she goes about 2 hours and then screams like we've been starving her for days. We just switched to formula with added rice starch for spitting up (both of them tend to do that thru the nose on occasion) and I was hoping it would help her feel fuller longer. NOPE! It's always the skinny ones! LOL...

We had a horrible time with feeding the twins when they were first born, went through like 5-6 different bottle types! Long story short, when we were using the Avent bottles, which have the same flow rating system, the slow was not giving them anything and the fast was too fast. We took advice from my SIL and took a safety pin and poked 1-2 extra holes in the top of the nipple, next to the original hole. We kinda made our own medium flow! It worked great, they were able to get what they needed without drowning! Don't know if it would work with the Ventaire nipples or not.
