itchy belly / itchy stretchmarks
Alrighty - I am in search of some suggestions from the been there done that ladies! I am almost 3 years post op, down 140+ pounds and 16 weeks pregnant.
I have very sensitive skin and use coconut oil frequently to moisturize up my dry sensitive skin. I've noticed in the last 2 weeks that my belly and old stretch marks are itchy. Because I have sensitive skin if I itch too much I actually break the capilaries under my skin and sometimes bleed (always been a problem for me) .Do you have any "belly rubs" that have worked for you? I was thinking of maybe trying to go back to my Aveeno lotions. I can't use anything with dyes or perfumes.
Oh that reminds me - I'll try a soak in a warm tub with one of those aveeno oatmeal anti-itch packs.
Thanks in advance ladies!

Vitamin E oil works great. I've used it post-op and throughout pregnancies. You can find it with the vitamins at Walmart or any pharmacy.
Also, light therapy can be used for extreme cases of dry skin (eczema) and/or itching.
There is a condition called PUPPS. It's basically a harmless pregnancy induced rash with extreme itching. Usually develops in the 3rd trimester. I had it with my 1st baby and you'll know it if you have it too. Not trying to worry you, just expanding on what Emily mentioned.
Anyway, the ultraviolet therapy was the best and only relief! It's administered through a dermatologist though it wasn't the tanning bed I had secretly hoped LOL
Hugs,

I have had eczema my entire life and a SEVERE flare up around my waist and thighs (everything that expanded) and stretch marks once I hit the 3rd trimester. I'm talking scratch welts, broken & bleeding skin, and the ugliest, splotchiest baby bump you've ever seen.
Sarna is a good lotion for immediate relief of itching, you can get it at WalMart and it's stocked near the pharmacy next to the rest of the eczema lotions (like Aveeno Eczema). My ob told me I could continue to use mild topical steroids like Topicort and that has helped a lot. I also follow Topicort with Eucerin to seal in moisture after my Aveeno oatmeal baths.
Hope that all helps.
