Multiple early miscarriages

I just found out today that my HCG dropped and today I started cramping and spotting. I was only about 4 weeks, which is called a chemical pregnancy. I have had 3 of them and one m/c at 6 weeks when I had my mirena.

The OB is finally going to run some tests for me. She think I could have a blood clotting problem that is causing me from implanting into the uterus. She said it could be as simple as taking baby asprin or heprin. She had no idea about what to do about my gastric bypass and if I could even take baby asprin, and wanted me to ask my surgeon. I'm going to try to find another OB because she didnt seem to know much about the gastric bypass and pregnancy and rheumatoid arthritis and pregnancy.. So... Anyways.. she will run the test in 6 weeks and then we can try when I ovulate after that.. depending on the outcome of course.

Im devastated and my husband is very distraught... I think these m/c have been harder on him than me, but this time has been the hardest for me. I really thought this was it and I would have a beautiful baby is August.

Amber, honey, I'm so sorry to hear of this.  Please don't give up on trying.  I know your OB will find a solution.  Do let me know if there's anything you need.  Many *hugs* to you...

I'm sorry for your loss.  Thoughts and prayers to you and your husband.

I have also experienced multiple miscarriages (usually 5-9 weeks).  After many blood tests, it was determined I have multiple genetic mutations (3/4 depending on which dr you ask)  that are blood clotting disorders.  Even though I have never had a blood clotting problem, they are treating those disorders when/if I get pregnant again.  I currently take 2 baby aspirin per day, regardless of being pg or not.  When I get pg, I take daily injections of heparin.

However...I'm probably considerably older than you...and further testing has lead the drs to believe that my problem is more hormonal than anything...though to avoid taking any risks, they're treating the hormonal problems AND the blood disorders.  My uterine lining is not thick enough on its own to sustain a pregnancy, so I take estrogen in the first half of my cycle, followed by estrogen and progesterone in the 2nd half.  If I get pg again, I'll continue both of them for the first three months or so.

Keep looking for answers.  There's no guarantee you will find them if you keep looking...but there's a pretty good guarantee you won't find them if you don't look.

Please feel free to PM me if you want to 'talk' or if there's anything I can do to help.

Sorry that you are having to go through this.  It isn't easy.  I have had a stillborn and 3 miscarriages.  The miscarriages happened at 6 wks (blighted ovum), 11.5 wks (after a HB was seen) and 16 wks (after a HB was seen)

I am currently 14+ wks pregnant and on asprin therapy.  My last pregnancy was successful with the asprin therapy.  I had 4 pregnancies before WLS, all 4 were healthy and uneventful (besides some higher blood pressures)  the 4th was my son who was stillborn at 35 wks (he had a true knot in his cord, which is considered a cord accident... otherwise he was completely healthy)

Then I had the 3 M/C after my WLS.  They did genetic testing on myself and DH and chromosome screenings and the blood clotting testing after my pregnancy that ended at 16 wks.  The only thing that came back abnormal was an elevated Protein C Activity (clotting function within the body).  They said it wasn't abnormal enough to cause a problem... but put me on the asprin therapy with my 8th pregnancy... which resulted in my beautiful daughter Sydnee.

We can take asprin with no problems.  I take a low dose 81mg asprin (which used to be named baby asprin)  I took the chewable kind.  I had to stop taking it 3 wks before my scheduled c-section to allow for my platelettes to return to normal before surgery.

I am glad they are testing.  It could be very simple to resolve.  Best of luck to you, and lots of prayers

I'm here if you need to talk.

Hugs

I have 2 clotting disorders. I just had my 7th pregnancy with only having my 3rd child. I got to where if I was trying to get pregnant I would not test till I was almost 6 weeks late because it was too hard. I know I had a few extra losses in there but I dont want to think about those or how many. With low protein S and factor V leiden I did go on heparin about 14 weeks. Before that was 1 asprin a day and I was using the progestrone suppositories till 14 weeks. At 14 weeks I started on Lovenox and kept that till 30 weeks where I went to the heparin shots twice a day. The lovenox was only one shot a day. It was all worth it since now I have my beautiful baby girl. Good luck to you!! Dont give up!!
