cystic hygroma

i had my second ultra sound on tuesday at 11 weeks by a high risk OB because on the first one they saw something abnormal and were not sure what it was. turns out that it is a cystic hygroma and the doctor says its a very poor prognosis and does not look good for chances of survival for my baby. this is my first pregnancy and i am crushed and very scared. does anyone have any expierence with this ? i have been doing alot of research and have found little positive .anything that anyone knows good or bad would be much appreciated. thanks

Here is an article that explains it in layman's terms. I am going to search our physician's database to see if I can find anything else out for you although it may be more medical terminology than the one I just posted.

My heart goes out to you in receiving this news. I pray for a positive outcome and that the physicians treat you kindly and give you the testing and information you need and deserve.

thank you for the article. they did talk to me and tried to be as detailed as possible but i was so upset i dont think i heard very much of what they said. 

thanks for any information you can share i appreciate it greatly. trying to wrap my mind around everything that has happened. my  SO died very unexpectedly from a brain anurism and 3 weeks later i found out i was pregnant so this has been such a roller coaster for me....

The physicians I work for have a database they can access for any and all things medical. It's only info and articles available to physicians offices so it's alot of info, but thought maybe you could pick out what you want from it. It was too long to post here.

This is a defect that can be in varying degrees and in various places in a fetus/child. If found in pregnancy, it would be seen after 10 weeks. Some are not found until the child is born or after two years old. Some cystic hygroma can be removed depending on how it grows and in what region of the body it is.

The best thing for you to do is talk to your OB about where it is, the size, and their expectations for you and the baby.
