I've got good news and bad news!

Good news- I went to the doctor yesterday.  They went ahead and did an ultrasound.  Of course, I am too early to really see anything.  They were able to see a sac forming and the lining of my uterus is thickening.  Everything looked good for the time being.  He gave me a prescription for the Lovenox, Prenatals and Folic Acid.  The doctor wants to see me back in 2 weeks to make sure everything is okay.

Bad news- My insurance won't cover the Lovenox injections.  I don't know what we are going to do.  I am waiting on the doctor to come in so I can call them and see what they want me to do.

I am considering myself blessed and as others on here say, Today I am pregnant!!

so glad that the US went well WHY won't the insurance cover the injections?! That's just crazy! I'd call and fight it! Or maybe there is a generic that they will cover.

Good luck!

Andrea,
Sometimes you can contact the pharmeceutical company to see if they have a program to cover the injections for you if insurance won't. Then you'd just need a script to the syringes which are $.25 or so at Walgreen's.  Hope that helps!

I am not sure why they won't cover the injections.  I called the insurance company and they told me to call the governing board of our insurance and maybe the doctor.  So I am going to call the doctor soon to see what he has to say.  He wonderful, yet mean enough, to get it covered.

One other thing I thought of....when I was having trouble getting some meds covered, my doctor faxed a letter of medical necessity...had my meds filled and covered that same day.

Yesterday, I called the doctor and the governing board of our insurance.  The receptionist said she would talk to the doctor.
The guy at the governing board took all my information and said he would call me back with some information.   Just give him time.
About 3 hours after I talked to him, he called back.  He did research and found that based on the information I gave him that it is very necessary for me to have the injections.  He called the insurance company and they told him to have me get my doctor to write a letter of necesitty and fax it to them.  Once they get the override, they will call me and I can go get my prescription filled.
I called the doctor's office immediately.  The receptionist hadn't got to talk to him about an alternative, but I told her what the insurance told me.  The doctor was already gone for the day because he had to do a cesearean.  She told me she was going to go ahead a write the letter and have it ready for him to sign this morning and was going to fax it ASAP.  I am hoping that everything will get done today.  As much as I hate needles and don't look forward to doing the injections, I want to get them started because this is my baby.  I will do whatever I can to have it.   I am already nervous about this pregnancy because of my first miscarriage.  I am trying to stay calm.  I just focus on the fact that the doctor had nothing but positives to say.  I will feel much better once the injections start since I know that is what caused my miscarriage.  I am just telling myself to stay positive and I AM PREGNANT!!!
