Questions for you mamas
I'm sorry ladies. Ive trolled this forum for a few months now a couple times, but I still have so many questions.
I'm now expecting my second. Im a 16 months post-op and im still on the big side. I had 20 lbs to go till my goal but like 40 lbs to go for my surgeons goal. I'm just curious how much I should gain this pregnancy.. My last pregnancy I weight 280 at the beginning and 300 at delivery, so I only gained 20 lbs. Well now im 205 and im scared I will gain more this time around because im smaller than last time. I feel stupid about it all but I really have no clue how it works for other weight loss surgery mamas. SO if there is anything else that might help that you want to add that would be awesome.

I wanted to say congrats... I am early out from surgery so I am still losing weight but the other ladies are just great on here they will be able to help you... I am guessing you might still lose at the beginning and eventually gain something but it shouldn't be a lot... As long as u do what your suppose to. I noticed people gain a little bit nothing crazy... I may be wrong idk...lol but take care... :)

Hi there!
I can tell you from my own experience that I didn't gain at all, in fact I lost 20 lbs in my pregnancy... I was 3 1/2 years post op when I got pregnant with my son... I started around the 300lb range and dropped to 280 and stayed there the whole time... My son grew fine & was healthy... Although I ate normally and such, I just couldn't gain weight with him... He was full term and weighed 5lbs 13oz and was 18 inches long... On the small side compared to most ladies on the forum's babies but very healthy & happy...
As for what you should gain, I was told 15-20lbs at my size then... So I am not sure what you will be told by your OB as you are thinner than I was... Just make sure your OB is familiar with bypass and the nutritional needs, vitamins, etc... Eat regularly and add in some snacks too to get in the extra calories you will need during the pregnancy...
Goodluck to you and ask any question that you think of... There are a lot of great ladies around here that are helpful when it comes to pregnancy and even more of us Mommie's out there for when your little one is born....

Hi!
First off congratulations!! I got pregnant at 14 months post op, and like you was 205lbs when I got pregnant.... I am now just over 20 weeks pregnant and have gained 10-12lbs so far.... I didn't expect I would've gained so much, I had terrible sickness in the first 12 weeks and hardly ate but still gained!! My doctor told me that a gain of 20-25lbs is acceptable, and I am constantly monitering my intake of food, making sure I get enough calories for me and baby, but not over indulging! I'm hoping I won't gain too much more weight...my doctor didn't seem concerned at my last appt ( On Monday) with my weight gain, so I'm trying not to worry too much!!
Wishing you all the best!
Vicky

Well I wanted to say thank you ladies for the information. I had a OB appt today and my HCG levels have dropped. This will be my fourth early miscarriage this year. She is FINALLY going to run some test in 6 weeks to see what she can do for me, but im starting to lose hope. She said it could be as simple as just taking baby asprin or heprin because of blood clotting. Which im hoping is it. So thank you again.. we will be trying again in 8 weeks.. which feels like FOREVER!
