diagnose with missed abortion

Hello everyone!
I'm 10w3ds and my dr said that my baby stopped growing between 6-7wks and that there is no heartbeat. My dr said that my baby is dead but i still feel pregnant. my belly is still growing. a lot of people tell me that it could be possible that my baby isn't as big as he should be due to my surgery. Because I don't eat as much as I should. Has anybody gone through this? please I need advise. I trust in the Lord and I'm waiting for a miracle, but my dr has schedule me for a d/c my pre op is next thursday. But deep inside something tells me that I shouldn't go with it. can someone advise. I need to hear from someone that has gone through this surgery (RNY) and pregnancy. thank you and may God Bless you and your babies!!

I am not a Dr. but if you are 10 weeks and there is no heartbeat then you had a missed miscarriage.  I am so sorry.

Unfortunately, I believe that Karen is correct.  Just to reassure yourself though, ask your dr to do an hcg test.  He would do one, then two days later a second one.  When comparing the two, the numbers should be doubling.  If they're going down, then it's definitely a mc.  If it's not doubling but going up slowly...w/o a hb at 10 weeks, there's not a lot of hope that the baby is still alive.

Is there any possibility that you are not as far along as you thought? Did you ever have an ultrasound WITH a heartbeat? Has he done an hcg check? I am so sorry you are going through this! My thoughts and prayers are with you honey. On a side note, many women who have misscarrages go on to have very successfull pregnancys post op. :) Hugg!

aw hun I'm so sorry. If at 10 weeks they couldn't find a heartbeat it doesn't sound good :( I went in for my 11 week ultrasound the last time and there was nothing - just an empty sack. I still had all the symptoms, belly was growing etc. It was determined it was a blighted ovum.

Oh and on a better note - I had my D&E in June and was pregnant again in August and so far so good! I'm 15 weeks + now

Liz!, I can't believe how fast the time is going for you!. 15 weeks thats totally crazy! Before you know it you are going to have the BIG ultrasound, to see what you are having! I'm still just super excited for you. I'm not sure how long it takes to feel the baby start to move but have you?... Well chat later!

It's a missed miscarriage. My last baby happened like this similarly. At around 10 weeks I started spotting and then bleeding and the ultrasound showed my baby stopped growing at around 5 weeks.

I was able to miscarry at home though and didn't need to go through a D&C.

You could opt to do the same if you are too uncomfortable with having a D&C done. If you want details in what to expect LMK through a PM and I'll talk you through it.

Your body will eventually expell the baby at some point. Just be watchful of a fever. If you develop one then you would have to go for a D&C.

Is it possible that you miscalculated. Sure. But even at 6-7 weeks they should have been able to see a heartbeat.

I am so sorry this is happening to you because I know how difficult it is to go through. This current regnancy is tainted and I am not able to enjoy it as much yet because I keep worrying that my baby has stopped growing and I won't know for quite a few more weeks. :( I've got a good 4-5 more weeks to go before I'll be able to hear a heartbeat on the doppler. I'm just glad I have the holidays to keep me busy until then.

I had what they called a missed abortion too. I had seen a heartbeat at 7 weeks and went in because I had a feeling something was wrong and had a bit of cramping. They did a ultra sound and the baby had just died :( It's awful!! I'm so sorry you are going through this. I chose to have a D&C.
