knee pain????

I'm 19 weeks, I've had back pain the whole time.

Even when I was heavy I never had any type of knee or joint pain, but tonight I had TERRIBLE knee pain walking around at a store with my hubby.  I could barley stand, and hubby had to get the car for me.  I sat for a little, and put a ho****er bottle on my knee when I got home, and now it feels better.

Is this a normal pain??  I don't think it's from the 5lbs I gained.

Anyone else experience this in the second trimester??

Thanks
Karen

I know that when you're pg that the extra progesterone or some hormone relaxes the joints in your body quite a bit, to prepare for labor eventually and maybe it's doing that to your knee joints?  I know it made my feet flatten out a lot, my podiatrist told me it did the same thing to his wife when she was pg!  Maybe ask your doc about taking glucosamine and/or chondrotin.  I know those are some supplements that help with joint pain and lubricating the joints so they don't hurt as much.

I had a lot of lower back pain when pg with my other two kids but thankfully I haven't had any so far with this pg- probably cuz I weigh 130 pounds less!  But I know I'll have some later on when I get further along and my belly gets bigger, it sucks!  I would maybe call your doc and just ask about it, maybe take some Tylenol when you have the knee pain and see if that helps.

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

That just stinks Karen. I had asked my Chiropractor about "random pains" when I was there last. She told me that it was totally normal (I will of course be asking my OB when I see them next too) but she said that as the relaxin kicks in and the joints and muscles relax it can feel strange and even hurt. This is what she said is going on with my lower back and hips.

Hope they are feeling better today!

I have heard that when you are pregnant your weight is redistributed and you start using different muscles that you never used before and compensating and walking differently - that is why you see some women with the "waddle" lol! So maybe that is why your knee is bothering you. You are using your body differently now that you are getting farther along in your pregnancy and just tweaked your knee a little bit. I hope it gets better for you!!
