My ankles and feet look like Fat *******'s! *Pic*

I know some swelling is normal in pregnancy but holy cow! My calves, ankles, & feet feel like they are going to explode!! I really hope this isn't a sign for something more serious like pre-eclampsia! My BP was great when I saw my OB on Monday so I think I'm ok but my feet are tingly and itchy and then hurt if I push on them. (But don't hurt to walk or anything like that.) Is anyone else out there having the same problem? I just want to know I'm not alone!

Now check out these ham hocks!!

oh girl. I have had some crazy edema going on for most of this pregnancy. I don't even have ankles.  I go from from huge swollen calf to foot. its wierd.  I've cried and moaned about it but they all say it will just go away.  hugs. I hope yours does.

it's so normal... try living with your feet like that for a lil over a year... I was so big my feet and legs were like that from months before I had my daughter in April 08' until my surgery in April 09' the pain you explained is horrible I know... I hope they get better for ya... I noticed if I would squeeze them in my sneakers and walk for a bit the swelling would go down but idk putting them up never helped me... I just hope u feel better... :)

I hope that they feel better for you soon! From what I have read cut back on salt, put them up as much as possible and drink TONS of fluids - then drink MORE fluids!

Feel better!

No no no! Do NOT reduce your salt intake! You need the salt to help absorb the excess water! It helps your body process the water retention better. http://www.drbrewerpregnancydiet.com/id70.html All about salt during pregnancy.

Take a bath, but if at all possible get to a pool because if you can submerge yourself up to your neck it will help flush your body of the excess water retention. Baths really helped me when I couldn't get to a pool.

This is a great site to go through to get a better understanding of what is happening and how to prevent it: http://www.drbrewerpregnancydiet.com/id35.html

So eat more salty foods and drink a lot more water!

I'm sorry. My feet and ankles used to get bigger than that when I wasn't pregnant, but at my heaviest. It is super uncomfortable, I know. You could get some support stockings which really do help. They are really hard to get on though. Try a medical supply store.

Aww... when I was pregnant I had 1 foot that would swell twice its size. It was horrible. I too took pics and people laughed. My doc wasn't concerned with my swelling...which wasn't all the time. Just every now and again. I would say to lay down with your feet elevated ..if possible. Maybe that will help you.

You poor thing!  I hope you find some relief soon.  There were a few ladies on here that swore baked pumpkin helped with swelling.  Maybe enjoy a small piece of pumpkin pie?? ;-)

I had the SAME exact thing, but it went all the way up to my under-belly.  It was hideous and painful!  It got even worse after I delivered the twins and didn't go away until 2 days ago and they are 3 weeks old now.  Propping my feet up only caused the water to go to my thighs and that hurt like a mother too.  I had to be given a diuretic to take home with me and a drain put in my belly because of all the swelling!  I hope yours gets under control.  Good luck!!
