Hi ladies,

I hardly ever post, but I was sitting hear, thinking out my plan of attack for tomorrow and got curious. What is everyone making/having for Thanksgiving Dinner?

I have already made a Pecan Pie, a Pumpkin Pie, and 2 Double Layer Pumpkin Pies. When I get off from work I will make the stuffing so that it is ready to go in the Turkey in the morning.

Our menu includes:
Turkey
Homemade Stuffing
Homemade Gravy
Mashed Potatoes
Potato Salad (hubby insists)
Sweet Potato Casserole
Creamed Spinach
Cranberry Sauce
Yeast Rolls covered in honey and butter
Savory Rolls
and of course, the aforementioned pies.

This is my favorite meal of the year, and the best thing is the leftovers, so I can repeat it... lol

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Suri

I have never heard of having potato salad for Thanksgiving until today.  My mom's friend's daughter-in-law is from GA and insists on making potato salad (in addition to mashed and sweet).

My only thought was -- maybe you folks in warm areas are used to eating potato salad all year?  Up here it's a "summer"  (picnic) food !

We are having a simple meal this year..... my mom can't make it because she is recovering from H1N1 and two of my brothers can't make it....

So there are 10 adults and 3 kiddos only....

Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Potato Casserole (with marshmellows)
Baked sweet potatos (for grandma)
Green bean casserole
Brocolli cheese rice
Jellied cranberry sauce (old family recipes)
Cinnamon apple cranberry sauce  - new recipe this year and I LOVE it.  I am trying not to eat it all before tomorrow!  http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aaron-mccargo-jr/cinnamon -apple-cranberry-sauce-recipe/index.html
Fresh Bread
Pumpkin Pies (with Butter Pecan icecream and whipped cream)
Applie pies with vanilla icecream
An assortment of Christmas Cookies (homemade)

(and the usual crackers / cheese spread,  cinnamon roasted nuts, chex mix, etc as appetizers)

Some day I'm going to do something fancier....but my family LIKES the "plain" stuff, ya know?  I love this new cranberry apple sauce, but they will probably all eat the jellied old fashioned one we grew up with !

Happy Thanksgiving !!

My idea of simple would have been turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and maybe a pie....seems to me you have good variety and lots of great stuff! Cooper is a doll and seems to be such a laid back baby...care to share tips...lol...2 years in and I am still at a loss at times!
I ami n Texas, and yes, many people do some form of potato salad or *gasp* coleslaw with their meal!
