Really scared..
Im scared I may be misscarrying. I have never gone through this before and I am terrified. I had some pretty bad cramps last night, that lasted a few minutes and then went away. This morning when I went to the bathroom I had some bright red droplets of blood. I am waiting for a call from my oncall provider, and am pretty sure they are going to tell me to go into the ER. I doubt that the office is open today. If I miscarry, what will I tell my 8 year old? He still cries about the goldfish he lost last YEAR... I will feel like its my fault...

Oh my goodness, Your son, I could not fathom,Thanksgiving 1994 I will never forget that day. I had an IUD in and it I had no idea I was pregnant. I had family over from overseas, as my husband was Scotish. Your son, I am so sorry. They did not have a clue what to do, my kids were so small, Its not your fault. It really is not your fault, Please focus on you son, grieve with him, and let him share. Sometimes its just not in the big picuture, Life has other plans. You are sound like such a good mom, worried more about your son, oh,honey, dont beat yourself up. Just tell him the truth, and its okay to cry. Let him grieve if the worst is to come. Dad gum it, I hope its just your body thinking Its time to have a period or something. I am wish you the best. On thank heavens for your loved ones at this stressful time. I hope all is better soon. No matter what, this is not your fault no matter what. I dont know how you feel, but God has a plan for us all. I will pray that you feel the peace of the Lord to help you though.
Jen - Praying that this is not a miscarriage! I would sit with your feet up and drink TONS of water until you hear back from teh Dr. Plenty of ladies here have had spotting earliy out, including me. At 5 weeks it could be leftovers from implantation or even the baby burrowing in further and getting comfy.
As for your 8 year old - I guess just try to explain to him that this is a possibility. Maybe he won't take it so hard since it isn't something he can "see and touch". I don't know - this is my first baby.
*hugs*
Keep us posted hun!

I talked to my doctor. She told me to rest all weekend, drink lots of water. She said its 50/50. It could be a misscarrage, or it could be fine. She said lots of women have blood early on a deliver healthy babys. She told me to go to the ER if the blood gets heavy or the cramps get really bad, otherwise on Monday she'll have me come in and we can try an ultrasound. She said it may be to small still to see anything on their though. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Will keep you updated.

I'm so sorry you are facing this worry and unknown.
Miscarriages are usually random and often unexplained. There is nothing you can do to affect the outcome right now. And that is both the curse and blessing of pregnancy - we are not in control. This is not your *fault* There are many women with 1st trimester bleeding that go on to have healthy pregnancies. I had some early bleeding that was of undetermined origin. Everett was just fine despite it. AF-like cramping is VERY common during PG. It can sometimes be rather painful, the stretching and growing that takes place. Cramping alone does not indicate miscarriage.
I hope you get answers and relief soon. Please keep us posted and know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.
