venting....
I see the high risk doc for my ultrasounds, just b/c they want to monitor the growth of the baby b/c of my surgery. I'm cool with that, I get it...and I actually like it b/c I get more frequent ultrasounds......
HOWEVER.....I am soooo disappointed with the office. This is the second ultrasound I have had with them. The doctor is always rushed and talks a MILLION miles a minute and acts like you should know everything already.
The first time she did the ultrasound she just started doing her thing.....not explaining anything that she was doing etc.....so finally my husband and I just looked at each other like wth? so, I said something. I asked her if she could explain what she was measuring etc, and what we were looking at....I explained that this was our first baby and we had never been through this before, so we were very curious, and would like to know more information then..."everything looks fine".
She did explain after I said something.
Then today we had a technician do the ultrasound.....and she started doing the same thing....not explaining anything.....so I once again asked if she could tell us what she was looking at. She was like "no" i'm not the doctor. I'm just measuring. I was like....I understand you're not the doctor....I'm just wondering if you can tell us what we're looking at on the screen. you clearly must know what you are measuring....i mean REALLY. if you don't know what you're looking at then back up off me biatch! haha! I didn't really say that....but i was thinkin it!!! lol.
Anyway.......sorry, I just needed to vent. It's just like they don't realize that because they do this for a living and see it every day.......that doesn't mean that we do. they are soooo unfriendly and rude.
grrrrrrrrrrr.
thanks for listening!!!

Do you have any options for another HR dr? If so, I'd consider it...because if you're not happy with their 'service' - and it IS a 'SERVICE' - then you need to move on. You're early enough in your pg that you should be able to find another dr. You're right that this may be routine for them....but it's not for you. The tech can't do any DIAGNOSIS of anything they see on the screen, but they sure as hell can tell you WHAT you're seeing on the screen.
Take charge of your care...it's your right as a patient...and as an expectant mommy who wants to know what's up.
Rub my little avatar picture...maybe some of the colorful language I learned when I moved to NY will rub off on you and you can spread a little of that around to get the treatment you deserve?

With my first pregnancy, the doctor never did the ultrasounds, there was an ultrasound tech who did them all. At first she didn't say anything and I, just like you, had to ask her to explain. I remember at the big ultrasound asking her if the baby looked ok and if things were fine and she said she's not supposed to interpret the data just collect it and that the doctor would let me know if everything was ok or not! Talk about freak me out. Everything was fine, but after hearing that it is enough to freak a person out a little thinking something is wrong. They must forget what it's like to be going through it, or maybe they don't know.
